So many devastating lines in this piece. chicagomaroon.com/52978/viewpo... E.g. Using AI to prepare teaching materials, write emails to students, etc. is like “... rolling the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile into a Michelin-starred restaurant and charging the same price.“ 🌭 🌭 🌭
Using Claude to write your teaching materials, exams, and/or problem sets; to respond to student emails; for grading; or in basically any way that interfaces with students—as some faculty at the University are already doing without unfettered Claude Enterprise access—is the equivalent of rolling the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile into a Michelin-starred restaurant and charging the same price.

Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.

a blue graphic with red and white text that reads: If you are represented by the congresspeople listed above: Call your reps. Tell them they must oppose this bill at every turn. It is egregiously unconstitutional, targets ideas based on ideological disapproval, and misleads parents and the public about the content of children's books. It does nothing to protect kids and will badly harm education. It will tie school material funding into knots and hurt anyone who is a library materials vendor, regardless of content. If you are a bookseller, librarian, or author, tell them your livelihood depends on the next generation of readers.
