Federal Criminal Defense Attorney, mostly indigent defense, probably working for free now that the Treasury is being looted. At the threshold of hell.

We celebrate images of Tank Man as a universal symbol of nonviolent resistance. There’s no difference between Tank Man and the soft blockade these neighbors are accused of organizing.

I bring it up because presumably she would have been asked to resign or be fired once Trump assumed office had she become US Atty as originally intended. As a judge she has authority to hold the US attorney’s office accountable for their blatant behavior in a way she may not have been able before.

the scale of weaponization in the broadview six is def unique—not trying to minimize the harm from it—but cops and prosecutors do shady shit every single day and no one finds out about it because the system is titled in their favor. there’s a reason cook county is wrongful conviction capital, usa.

Interesting fact that the only reason the judge in the case is a judge in the first place was because her nomination as US Attorney for the NDIL was blocked by JD Vance. She was then nominated for this judgeship instead.

Going to go on a rant here for a second… This is the scariest point for me, which is the normalization of ICE activity and the desensitization to these abductions as they happen more sporadically and at lower profile. Last year was a mess, it created a spectacle, but now it’s just everyday.

That organizing is happening. Indivisible refuses to actually work with on the ground folks to see how they might actually lend their email lists to this effort. Indivisible might as well be political theater for all the missed opportunity of actual change they could have accomplished.

The goal has always been to normalize the presence of armed, militarized forces in our public spaces. Today it’s Ohare. November is the polls. The time to act is now.

How can we have a justice system when those controlling justice are never held accountable for their miscarriages of justice? Most people can’t believe just how imbalanced things are until the wheels turn against then. And even then they can’t understand that their innocence won’t save them.

It would make sense these idiots would do that considering we already war gamed this out in 2002 and the US navy was promptly wrecked in the simulation. Not like there’s a Wikipedia page Iran could just look at to devise this exact same defense almost 25 years later.

I’m sure it won’t be shocking to hear that the DOJ has, for years now, required indigent defendants to shoulder the cost of producing their discovery to them by similarly requiring attorneys representing them to produce hard drives to the DOJ in order to receive their discovery.

In the early days when we discovered it, we actually were heartened that there was some political will to do something. But yeah, at this point if I hear one more “listening session” has been set up in response to them murdering us, I might lose my mind completely.

The real issue is that it took the murder of a white woman for YOU to actually stand up and care. Many of us have been standing up and pushing back for a long time because we knew the horrors that were coming for all of us. And when they came we didn’t wait for it to affect us personally.

I mean…why do you think thousands and thousands of people are doing Rapid Response? Migra Watch? Whistles? Because we’re horrified every single day that our neighbors are being abducted and killed. Why do you think Renee was there that day? Stop ignoring this moment that’s been happening since LA.

For months 🧊watchers have seen their own children gassed or come crying from classrooms because their local schools were locked down day after day. We’ve been injured and frightened. These were traumas we endured, assuming the violence but not the death. Yesterday the risk assessment was equalized.

Carpe Jugular @carpejugular.bsky.social · 09/01/2026
My own hot take on the murder of Renee Nicole Good-it’s not that she was a white woman, it’s that she was a Migra Watcher. We activate white folks by telling them they are lower risk, and train them for possible arrest, never about risk of death. We all see now how close we’ve come to the same end.

This isn't ICE's first. Silverio Villegas González was killed in Franklin Park, IL on 9/12/2025. González, 38 and father of two, had lived in Chicago 20 yrs and no criminal history. His death was the 1st fatal shooting by immigration agents of Donald Trump. The agent's name has never been released‼️

Unsurprising that you’re not seeing the opposition to this-you’re not seeing that ICE deploys teargas in our neighborhoods when we surround them on the street and scream at them for taking our neighbors. Or how they point guns at us and push us to the ground when they come to our neighborhoods.

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."

It’s literally sustaining me during this madness. We’re organizing here. I’ve met more of my neighbors in the last 6 months than I have in the 20 years I’ve lived in my neighborhood because we’re all coming together to protect each other. It’s keeping my hope alive.

Are any of the people being detained by ICE in this manner represented by attorneys? Are they taking people who appear not to be with attorneys? I know other cities have court watchers attending hearings, but not sure if that’s happening in Chicago.

Ok but don’t fall into a similar bit of thinking that no one is doing anything about ICE’s activities here. There is a concerted pushback against ICE that’s BEEN happening here and is only getting stronger. Rapid Response groups around the city are only growing in size.

People don’t get how much the Courts are affected by this. As of 7/15 there is no money left to pay appointed fed defense attorneys-no funds until October. How can courts function and rights be protected if the lawyers aren’t paid? We can’t afford to take every case pro bono. Most of us are solos.

This is a great lesson in showing what info the feds regularly rely on. Tracking locations through historical cell records is pretty bullshit but the court are slow to understand the limitations of the data and the FBI agents who testify re HCSL create very misleading exhibits regularly.
