I’m sure back when your Nonno’s sister died, society was even more rubbish at dealing with complex grief like child loss than it is now. I understand the urge to retreat. But everyone copes differently, and things morph over time in terms of what’s bearable in my experience.

I fully get this. Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t. But you can only grieve the way you feel able to on that day. And anyone judging you can frankly f**k off. Child loss is lonely and few truly understand it (luckily).

In the early days and weeks after Flossie died, I had a very strong sense that I needed to find parents like me, specifically who’d lost adolescent children to suicide. It’s so very complex and “I can’t imagine” responses used to really grate on me 💔
