"The main challenge for disabled people is how to obtain accessible employment in the first place. This is the key area where government and employers need to step up." Our CEO, @carolinejc.bsky.social, said to @johnpring.bsky.social on Gov's #KeepBritainWorking programme.

Our news and media should include our whole society, but only 11% of stories about Disabled people actually quote a Disabled person. We need more Disabled spokespeople, and more Disabled journalists to help balance the scales - this awesome support does that.

Your voice can help build a world where Disabled people are respected and included. This autumn, we're offering free media training for Disabled people who want to speak to the press about issues affecting our lives. To get involved, visit our website: buff.ly/o4Ho0Ox
Make your voice heard. Image of a megaphone. Media coverage about Disabled people rarely includes our voices. Be part of the Disabled Spokesperson Network and ensure we are included in stories about issues that affect us. Logo of Campaign for Disability Justice

We all need opportunities at work, but Disabled people are often denied them. If employers won't employ us and the Government endlessly threatens cuts, what can we do? Just throw us a ladder. Let's give everyone opportunities to build a career: buff.ly/s8zy8AF #OpportunitySecurityRespect
A cartoon. A person sits bewildered, having fallen into a pit marked poverty. Two people in grey suits look down at them. One is a man labelled Government, the other a woman labelled Employers. Both are carrying ladders. The man labelled Government says in a speech bubble, “sorry we'd love to help, but you're too disabled for that ladder and not disabled enough for this one.”

So, a new Prime Minister. What would you tell him about Disabled people, and what he needs to prioritise?

This insightful article is based on feedback shared by our campaign supporters earlier this month. It shows how the threat of benefit cuts is ALREADY harming Disabled people and highlights the devastating consequences if those cuts happen. buff.ly/4hhGwCm @johnpring.bsky.social

To meet its school readiness target gov must narrow gap between richer & poorer children. Only possible if families can afford essentials like food & bills. @TrussellUK research found *1/4* of under 5s face hunger & hardship. OF COURSE they're not ready to excel at school!
