Plus one day a week will be a field trip - maybe a day out at Tate Modern or a day of back to back films at the cinema. Now, wish me luck, tell me ONE thing I can do to make this better/practical or ONE art or tech course you’d recommend.

So I find myself at somewhat of a crossroads. I’ve just wrapped some client work, a few recent art opportunities didn’t quite pan out as expected, so I’m now looking down the barrel of ... nothing to do.

I have NO idea how I'll get on ... I'm pretty hungry to get stuck into some new software which needs darker / blackout space but Im also looking forward to playing with CCTV cameras. Watch this space - and do say hi. #brightonartist #midstreetlab #installationart #digitalartist #mediaartist

My work may begin in sketchbooks but it ends up on touchscreens, projections and monitors - big and it's hot and a right old faff. The chance to move into Mid Street Lab in Kemptown Brighton for 4 weeks means I can test whether a studio is right for me. www.carolinebeavon.com/play_record/

The space to play and the time to make What 4 weeks and 40 sq m means to me. The more I've settled into my 'artist' identity, the more I've been frustrated at not being able to actually do it. www.carolinebeavon.com/play_record/

Here's one I made earlier ... I'll be moving into Mid Street Lab gallery in Kemptown Brighton for a month next week to make NEW scrollytelling, interactive and projected work in a studio area. But alongside that will be an exhibition space where my existing work will be on display #brightonartist
Bold neon text reading "HERE'S ONE I MADE EARLIER" overlays a grungy dark-brown background filled with glowing yellow, wire-like plant forms and floating stylized eyes, giving a playful, psychedelic DIY vibe.

You see. I could wait to let people in only when I have a gallery filled with perfectly glitching monitors, projectors that don't overheat and ancient desktops that NEVER lose connection .. but what would be the fun in that? Instead I'm choosing to create in public (kinda). bit.ly/playrecord

I'm never going to be ready ... Perfection being the enemy to getting s*** done ... and all that Ok - so I have a 4 week residency coming up in Brighton (I may have mentioned it! haha) and I'm having to do some brain-management.
Bold neon-yellow text reads "BUCKLE UP FOLKS, ITS GOING TO GET BUMPY" over blue-green starry light projections on a dark room wall, creating a dramatic, playful warning.

Digital isn't scary - it can be human, warm and lovely. So I'm inviting Brighton artists with a discomfort about digital to a play session. Draw on digital tablets, scan in your work and see it animated, layered or projected. Sat 25 July 10-5 - drop in Mid Street Lab, St George's Rd, Kemptown.

My art does not begin on a screen, it begins in the page of a Moleskine ... all smudged ink water brushes, smeary greasy and random doodles. I'm now more transparent about showing these alongside the finished interactive digital work - it adds context, people understand where it's come from.

Oil painters refusing to enter a room full of monitors, people freaked out by dead CCTV cameras, passers-by assuming "it's just AI". In a few weeks I'll be holed up in Mid Street Lab gallery in Kemptown surrounded by screens, tablets, cables and projectors + as well as sketchbooks, ink and paint.

Why can't we all just get along? I've been showing my digital work in group shows on and off for over a year now... and I've noticed something. Some people really hate technology.

Which is why I'm opening the doors from time to time, so people can check on me. I'll be projection mapping in TouchDesigner, designing for touchscreens and freaking people out with some rusty old CCTV cameras. What this space. #artresidency #artinstallation #touchdesigner #cctvart

But it's just hit me. I'll be entirely alone in a space for four weeks with no brief, no client work, no deadlines, and no direction. How the hell will I get anything done? My ADHD is gonna flip outl and there's a strong chance I'll fall headlong down some rabbit hole or other. #adhdartist

Can I continue to keep my design and art practice separate? They're the same thing right? So why do they belong in different parts of my brain? The creativity from my art practice feeds my commercial work ... which itself pays for time for me to play.

The power of three … Mixed media inks, acrylics and more - - - - - - #Sketchbook #acrylicpainting #artist #art #artistsoninstagram #mixedmedia #mixedmediaart #acrylicpaint #collage #intuitiveart
A vivid, emotionally charged painting of three figures standing close together against a chaotic, multicolored background of purples, reds, yellows, and blues. The figures are rendered in a loose, expressive style with visible brushstrokes and layered textures. The central figure, dressed in bright orange, stares forward with a solemn expression. The figure on the left has long dark hair and streaks of black and orange across their face, while the figure on the right appears ghostly, with distorted features and multicolored smudges, creating a haunting, almost mask-like appearance.A close-up of the figure on the left side of the painting. This person has long dark hair partially obscuring their face. The skin is painted in shades of orange, yellow, and red, with black lines dripping down like tears or ink. Their expression is tense and shadowed, evoking sadness or discomfort.A close-up of the central figure, who has short hair and wears a vivid orange garment. Their expression is serious and direct, with large dark eyes and facial features marked by thick lines and rough textures. The backdrop continues the energetic, swirling strokes seen in the full image.A close-up of the rightmost figure, whose face is heavily abstracted and distorted. The features are overlaid with scribbles and patches of pale white, green, purple, and black, giving the impression of a face that is partially erased or rewritten. The eyes are hollow, and the mouth is open, suggesting distress or transformation.

A dark, moody painting of a hare with elongated features looking up at a swirling moon. The background is textured with black and deep blue brushstrokes, giving it a dreamlike, surreal quality.A ghostly, abstract depiction of a hare, created with black and white smudged crayon on paint over a book page. The hare’s body is partially obscured by dark shadows, with its tall ears and intense eyes emerging from the background.A vibrant, eerie painting of a hare with tall, sharp ears. The background is a chaotic mix of blue, pink, and black brushstrokes, creating a raw and expressive atmosphere. The hare appears almost spectral, blending into the surreal colors.

Well this is crushingly depressing … but a great example of solid #datajournalism “The right dominates the online media ecosystem, seeping into sports, comedy, and other supposedly nonpolitical spaces” www.mediamatters.org/google/right...
A bubble chart visualizing the total following of top right-leaning and left-leaning online shows. Each circle represents a show with over 1 million total followers, with circle size proportional to the show’s total following. The chart is divided into red circles for right-leaning shows and blue circles for left-leaning shows. Joe Rogan has the largest following at 39.9 million, followed by Russell Brand (22.5m), Theo Von (22.3m), Trevor Noah (21.2m), Ben Shapiro (25m), and Jordan B. Peterson (23m). Other notable names include The Young Turks (12m), The Breakfast Club (11.4m), Candace Owens (15m), Tucker Carlson (13.9m), and Piers Morgan (7.1m). The data was collected from platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Rumble, Twitch, Kick, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, as indicated in the source by Media Matters for America. (AI)

I'm a serial oversharer of my creative output. And sometimes it backfires. So now, I do this: - Am I after feedback or just a dopamine hit? - Wait 48 hrs - am I still excited? Go for it. - Does it need context? - Ask - why do I love it? - Choose my audience wisely. #CreativeProcess #ADHD
