In case we needed another reminder to abolish ice now. There is no way to reform this.

If you need a story about navigating girlhood and the ways fatphobia can arise in middle school, this one may hit home. It checks off all my boxes

Did I cry at this one? Yes, I cried at this one.

Due to crowds and humidity, my audhd self had a meltdown in a grocery store parking lot yesterday. Severely. I cried so hard, a girl tapped my window just to give me a hug. And while I’m still embarrassed today, that’s kinda the community care I sometimes crave, so I choose to be grateful too.

Eclipse in Pisces tips: Hydrate, shower, feel your feelings, read a book, do something you liked as a kid, go to bed early. Maybe not all but one or two. Good luck out there 🌙

I have met brilliant educators, but I can tell which of my colleagues ever tutored or substituted, and which ones didn’t. When you’ve had to over-explain things for a variety of age levels and backgrounds, it changes how you teach at the college level. Former tutors are a very specific breed.

Just me begging the desert not to desert so hard today. It’s not like I have extreme sensory issues with sweat, or anything 🥵

It’s 2:30am and I’m tossing and turning thinking about how Carrie White has been played by a straight sized actor for every adaptation when she’s canonically a chubby girl, robbing me of a fat girl revenge story and I will forever be unforgiving of this…

A friend & I discussed the fear of not only competing with AI but the real potential for false accusations. The main question we debated: must writers change their natural style simply to avoid AI accusations? If so, what does that mean for us? Thoughts from other writers? How are you handling it?

If we actually want to appreciate moms, we should be providing free childcare, healthcare, and guaranteed income for stay-at-home parents to put more money in families’ pockets and ensure no SAHP is reliant on a partner for their economic security. Idk I think that’s better than 15% off a vacuum.

Playing Buffy while I grade and the ep where “concerned parents” raid the library, take “inappropriate” books, and tie their daughters up in a witch trial type book burning—only to discover they were manipulated by a demon that feeds on the discord of community infighting—is really hitting right now

I’m not one to simp for billionaires, but man, I miss when billionaire entertainment moguls actually cared about art. Resharing a piece I wrote in 2022 about Cartoon Network and Ted Turner’s vested interest in preserving classic cartoons. www.slashfilm.com/977703/how-h...

Accidentally found writing I had forgotten about from almost a decade ago and damn is it cringe lol It’s so cringe, it’s fun. When was the last time I wrote something fun? Cringy and corny and silly? Embrace the cringe, kids.

As someone who lives in the Coachella area, I am ready for these Coachella people to leave. Property damage, dangerous driving, plus cops doing homeless sweeps to make the city “tourist ready” and my students scared of 🧊activity.

Something I don’t know how to articulate in a meaningful way but wish I did: my brain is tired. I am tired. Now just now. Always. I’ve been tired since I was 4yrs old. I’ve never not been tired. I’ll probably never not be tired. I’m tired of being tired of tired.

So my niece’s school and another school down the block from me were threatened on social media today. While my initial reaction is to hope it’s a bunch of losers or kids making edgy jokes to get attention, I know that’s a result of and part of the problem. I’m just fucking exhausted
