If you're an agent or editor who hasn't checked out the #PitchDis pitches yet now would be a good time. It's pretty quiet today so we shouldn't have any technical issues 😁 Also, a reminder that the request period has been extended until Monday at 8pm EDT.

How's everyone feeling? Excited? Nervous? Ready for it to be over with? 🙃 Please remember not to stress. Yes, writers have found agents and have been published via #PitchDis, but it's not the only way. So relax, have fun sending in your pitch, and don't worry 💜

Read what you need to read to stay informed so you don't miss out. Follow the clear instructions and you should be good. (I'll probably mess up anyway because I get overly excited, but the practice round went well so I'm excited to see how I do! 😅 - I too will try to read and follow the rules)!

Okay! So you've gotten a ton of reminders about what to do BEFORE sending in your #PitchDis pitch. But what about after? Well, here you go 😊

After You Hit Submit…
• Agents and editors won’t have access to pitches until September 15, so you won’t receive any requests before then. Requests will be sent out automatically as soon as they come in.
• Our mailbox will be inundated with emails, so if you email or DM please be patient for a reply.
• Do NOT send an email for any of the following reasons:
o Wanting to fix a typo in your form or change your form in any way.
o Wanting to replace one pitch form for another.
o Asking if I received your form. If you see the confirmation page, I received it.
• If you receive a request from an agent or editor
o Make sure the agency or publisher is on the registered list of participants. If not, contact me to verify either by email contactpitchdis@gmail.com, Bluesky (@pitchdis.com) or Twitter (@pitchdis).
o Research the agent or editor. If you have any doubts, feel free to reach out.
o Please follow any submission guidelines included in the request email.
• If you don’t receive a request
o Remember that the number of requests during a pitch event is not indicative of the quality of your work.
o Keep querying. Most people still find their agents that way.

I have a new article up over on Substack. I saw this rage bait post about how it costs thousands of dollars to get a literary agent, so I had some thoughts. Gentle reminder: querying may be awful, but it is free! lauriedennison.substack.com/p/querying-i...

Querying is awful. Do it anyway.

A post about how it costs thousands of dollars to get traditionally published popped up in my feed again, and it irritated me quite a bit – because it just isn’t true.
