#OTD 1926 Tragedy strikes Yorkshire steeplejack Leonard Selby, as he falls to his death from the spire of St Anne's Church, Athy Rd. He had been involved in the relocation of the Church, stone by stone, to a new site across The Barrow. It is now known as St Clare's, Graiguecullen. #ThrowbackThursday

#OTD 1961 - The ferocious Siege of Jadotville comes to an end. The brave soldiers were not the only Irish natives pressed into service that dramatic week - their Ford MkVI armoured cars were built by Thos. Thompson & Son in Carlow. Like the soldiers, it had no reverse gear. #ThrowbackThursday

#Eurovision 2008 was an odd one. It saw a Turkey and a chef - who could do a wonderful job cooking said Turkey - battle it out to represent Ireland in Serbia. The Turkey won. The chef now has a large & popular back catalogue on our shelves. #ThrowbackThursday
