Texas State’s Black History Exhibit Cancellation Sparks Academic Freedom Outcry
What does that say about the state of higher education when a 30-year-old traveling Black history museum-with 15,000 artifacts chronicling centuries of African American experience-is too controversial for a public university campus? Image credit to Oklahoma State University That question now looms over Texas State University after officials rescinded an invitation to the Black History 101 Mobile Museum, citing the state's anti-DEI law, "the current climate," and "certain topics covered" in the collection.
