Lucky yesterday to buy first issue #ashcan of #thelastdriver from Keith’s Comics in DFW. #seanmurphy is a master of storytelling. Issue #1 makes several salient points about 2026 America but story’s set in near future. fanboys/fangirls buy it, especially if you’re 50+. #imagecomics #comics

Just finished watching #sherlockjr on #tcm - I’ll put the chase scene in it up against any other, including in #thefrenchconnection. Happy to have discovered the genius of #busterkeaton late in my life. I can’t think of anyone directing now who can mix comedy with thrills today the way he did.

Never thought I’d see the day a Pope quotes Gandalf in an papal encyclical! Looking forward to read Magnifica Humanitas - it reminds me to read Francis’ encyclicals. Let’s see how American media covers the publication - hopefully well. God bless Leo - go Sox! #magnificahumanitas #popeleoXIV #AI

If you need a laugh today, read today’s interview with Fox “News’s” Dana Perino in Wall Street Journal. Not making this up - her first romance novel is coming out about liberal female politicos in WI and the male conservative residents they meet and romance. I’m sure the film will be on Prime!

One of my high holy days today - #recordstoreday waiting for Good Records in Dallas to open so I can pick up new releases from #springsteen #thewho #petergabriel #tompetty #sonvolt #stewartcopeland #johncolttane #collectivesoul

Really happy for #rorymcilroy for back-to-back green jackets! First time I can remember watching all four days, due to getting COVID earlier in the week and staying home. I’ll toast a Guinness in his honor in the near future! Feel for #justinrose though - he’s an honor to the game.

Watching my beloved #stlouiscardinals vs #bostonredsox on national broadcast - really disappointed someone sold the rights of one of my favorite #tompetty songs “Wildflowers” to Dick’s Sporting Goods for a freaking commercial. Does his estate need any more $$$?

@seeingredpod.bsky.social don’t get me wrong - thrilled we are 2-0 so far - but why in the name of Keith Hernandez’s mustache is Masyn Winn batting cleanup today? Let’s go Redbirds!

I’m of a certain age that I happily recall #CBSRadioNews being a constant on the AM dial in my dad’s pickup truck when he played #KMOX in St Louis, at the top of each hour and half-hour. Thanks Bari Weiss & the Ellisons for the continued shittification of American media and our quality of life!

Happy my #SLU #Billikens take on the Wolverines Saturday! Also, Jason Bennetti is a hell of a play-by-play announcer! So sad he’s not with the #WhiteSox 🏀 #bigdance #NCAAbasketball #saintlouisuniversity #A10basketball

Cosplaying middle-class Republican watching final round coverage of Pebble Beach Pro-Am on #CBS as I try to zone out for a #golfnap. Lots of TX GOP political ads during commercial breaks so I’ll probably have nightmares. I was a caddie for couple of years before high school so golf bug bit me early!

I can’t believe Catherine O’Hara has passed. I loved her and her art. She will be forever my Lola Heatherton. Her sketch with Andrea Martin as Lola and Mother Theresa on SCTV is priceless. I know she’ll always be for younger folks Kevin’s mom or the matriarch on Schitt’s Creek. This is so sad.

If you haven’t yet seen #davidbyrne on tour yet, drop everything, get a ticket, and go! Saw him and his amazing collection of musicians/vocalists/dancers last night in DFW and, over nearly 50 years of going to gigs, never have seen anything like it. Peter Gabriel comes close.

@seeingredpod.bsky.social hey guys, long-time listener - on tomorrow’s episode, please mention Contreras’ leadership in aiding Venezuelan LL team to enter US to play in LLWS. His passion and leadership makes it easy to root for him. Thanks for keeping the show going!

The older I get, the less #punkrock and more #progrock I feel. Case in point - listening to Selling England by the Pound right now - reminded how great Banks/Gabriel/Hackett/Rutherford/Collins band was. I’ll put on some Replacements after my nap but I put #Genesis up against #pinkfloyd any time.

Yes, we now live in an America many of us don’t recognize, due to fascists and grifters, but, we need to remember while reminding sisters and brothers around the world America produces artists and patriots like #springsteen #tracks2 #rockmusic #rockandroll #brucespringsteen #estreetband

Another reason baseball makes me happy: Kyle Schwarber steals a base - a rare occurrence aiding two of my fantasy teams.

@seeingredpod.bsky.social if you’re discussing ‘24-‘25 Busch attendance on next episode, compare it to ‘24-‘25 attendance for Blues & STL City FC. I’ll bet Blues & City have higher % attendance per game than Cards. Buzz for Blues and City major factors, not fear of crime, which would affect all 3?

@seeingredpod.bsky.social can we end the season now? This IS Cardinal baseball - excellent defense, clutch pitching, smart situational hitting, and great base running. I’ll eat bat tape to stay in 1st place! I could smell the coffee brewing today! Looking forward to tomorrow’s podcast!

@seeingredpod.bsky.social Hey guys, been subscriber for couple of years - used to listen when pod was thru ESPN 101(?). Thx for making my commute in DFW enjoyable, even though I disagree 15% of the time. You guys are intelligent and back up opinions w/ facts and data. Keep up good work - go Cards!
