Nemo @captnemo.in · 07/05/2026As a side-note, I'm having to use Homebrew these days, and I've been quite happy with the security posture of the core stuff. I've been all external taps, and disabled auto-updates (only weird default I can complain about), but they care about shipping securely. 110
Nemo @captnemo.in · 07/05/2026I like this idea because the “Packager is responsible for security” hasn’t been true for a while across many places. Rolling distros like Arch, but also places like Homebrew. Letting something age before packaging is a good idea. Not that different from Debian staging but worth it in some contexts. 100

Nemo @captnemo.in · 22/02/2026Same. I remember the original GitHub Issues pitch where they showcased the huge list of fields on Jira and Redmine to compare. Now GitHub is the same. Wish they had a minimal mode to turn off “issue links, milestones, assignees, reviewers, projects”. 110
Nemo @captnemo.in · 22/02/2026I’ve been having similar thoughts on that. Realising that for me, a public issue tracker is a bigger selling point.
