Didn’t have the greatest summer gardening season this year, but I’m still really proud of this monster globe basil plant I grew from seed. Amazing what happens when you prune something correctly.
Very large globe basil plant, spheroid in appearance with a few flowers starting to come out, almost overtaking a sizable horse trough repurposed into a gardening container.

The wondrous Aronia berry. All this from one tree/bush. I’ll make it into jam on another day when I’m feeling more motivated

My tomatoes have gotten out of hand. I have spent so long trying to pull all of the suckers off of them and yet they keep growing like crazy. This is the first year I’ve had this problem to this kind of degree. #gardening

If this does not become a killer meme then I will be disappointed in the entire internet.

Off to a decent start at the community garden here in DC - garlic scapes just starting to appear, tomatoes with plenty of blossoms, and I have three surviving pepper plants by the looks of it. Echinacea, as always, is invincible, and my blackberries are just starting to ripen. #gardening

Perplexity really tried its best to make sense of this
A “John Scalzi burrito” isn’t one fixed recipe; it’s the concept of wrapping whatever you have in a tortilla, especially odd leftover combos, and heating it until it’s hot and edible.[mastodon +3]
Core idea
•	Use a flour tortilla as a vehicle for random fridge or pantry leftovers.[dailydragon.dragoncon]
•	Mix savory bases (proteins, starches) with sauces and dairy, often in weird combinations (e.g., fish with Miracle Whip and relish; mashed potatoes with salmon and Manwich sauce).[mastodon +1]
•	Heat it until everything is warm and the tortilla is soft or slightly crisp; there’s no “authenticity” requirement, just edibility.[dailydragon.dragoncon]

Aronia berry jam day! 3 pounds of berries - 2.5 quarts of jam, all from one plant in my backyard. the deities of urban gardening (and a very determined bumblebee who pollinated every flower) smiled upon me.

I feel like tomato season is finally here! First harvest of black cherries and Queen of nights. They’ve got some bowl ripening to do but already big on flavor. All thanks to my community garden plot!

The bees love my echinaceas - if only they’d pay more attention to the tomatoes right next to them.

First haul of Frutilla Blanca - Chilean strawberries - from the community garden plot. They’re white strawberries and a progenitor of sorts to the modern strawberry. They came out a bit small but still big on flavor! They wintered over great from last year, true to their roots as a mountain berry.

Changeover from winter/spring to summer garden. Let’s go tomatos! Carrots were not what I hoped but I’ll take it
