I was the narrative designer for an unreleased version of the Golden Axe sequel and had written out a very grimdark sword and sorcery world. So it's weird watching this goofy satire cartoon version of the world. But that version never got released and the studio went another way, so only I remember.

Based on the chart in the Chronicle it’s the force that opposes the forces of order. Chaotic and entropic forces that seek destruction, often associated closely with fire. But as always, things can be nuanced and sometimes what we assume to be a law of creation is just a cultural trait.

Anyway, I was struck after watching Spider-Man that it didn't feel out of place for Peter to be sitting there talking to his computer, as some weird guy alone in his room. He was just vibe coding with a voice assistant. Like all the other weird guys alone in their room.

Realistic hacking scenes were already difficult to film and look interesting. Now they don't have to use a bunch of wacky surreal graphics to make it look interesting. You can just have a conversation for the camera.

The trope of the techy character creating by having a conversation with their computer is a reality now. Like the X-Files figured out how to use cell phones dramatically, I wonder how this will change hacking and programming scenes, now that it can be used outside of science fiction?

As someone who really likes the concept of solarpunk, I think that we all need to move beyond that one yogurt advertisement. It's doing way too much heavy lifting whenever anyone mentions the genre, and it's kinda cringe.

It’s always interesting how far hotels are behind the time in terms of what people use in their routine. I don’t need an alarm clock, and even if it has USB plugs, my phone needs USBC. So everything that was set up gets unplugged so I can use my devices.
