Dear Americans. Not for the first time, I have encountered one of you call what is clearly a goose, a duck. Do you just call all semi-aquatic birds ducks? If so, are swans ducks? Or is this phenomenon specific to geese? Is this like when I found out you call all shapes of pasta and noodles, noodles?

I mean, I had a sense of "being in the games industry", but 98% of that was just the office environment localised to the particular studio I worked for than some larger industry thing.

I can't say I've ever really felt like I was in an "industry" in the way you imply. I think you probably have to go back to the early nineties when Sony was splurging ridiculous money on parties, and journalists and half the dev team were doing cocaine in the bathrooms to get that.
