Thank you to autocorrect for changing “jobs” to “Jin’s” in an email rant about music exam repertoire to my boss, thus tacitly announcing just how much Samurai Champloo fanfic I’ve been banging out recently. Helpful.

I feel like the repertoire choices aren't based on what children are listening to when they have a choice, and more on what their parents' generation (people around my age and older who are now in Jin's where they're setting the syllabi) look back on with nostalgia. Several years ago

I found this at the bottom of the “apology” post page when I went looking for the figure though, which somewhat undermines the “safeguards” promised further up the page.

(and is quite illegal). Said safeguards are as follows:
• Once a situation has been identified, investigate and gather evidence.
• Contact the person in question and give them a 72 hour window of time to respond.
• If the person responds, we resolve the situation or not.
• If resolved, we both go about our day with the understanding things are resolved.
• If the person does NOT respond after 72 hours, the account and its images can be deleted.

Sure, this particular incident with images potentially being used on Patreon/Ko-fi is unlikely to happen again, but you need to consider how you're going to mitigate against a similar problem in another area of Squidge's work.

He's backtracking now, apologizing, and deleting his ill advised posts on bsky which is rad. But he's also continuing to imply that everyone who was banned was violating the policy and hes just found a way to prevent that from continuing to happen, and by naming me in his apology instead of keeping it private in the email thread we already had, he's directly linked my name with that implication. I am deeply offended by this because it simply is NOT true. But I have to see people reacting to his posts in good faith, assuming hes telling the truth.
I dont even care about losing access to the free hosting at this point. Whatever, its his, he can ban who he wants I guess. I do care about being misrepresented as someone who would put fan spaces and resources at risk and I care about the authors whose work is affected.

Mugen sat still for a moment, regarding the sleeping ronin. Then a slow smile spread across his face. He got on his knees and bent over the sleeping man, placing a hand on the floor on either side of his head. His grin broadened to a full smirk as he bent his head so that his face was inches from Jin's and extended his tongue, dragging it slowly up Jin's cheek.

Jet sat up, yawning, and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. The clock on the wall told him the spa would be closing soon. He got quietly to his feet, picked up the small pouch he'd carried his supplies in, and began gathering his belongings into it as quietly as he could.

Behind him the younger man rolled onto his side, still mumbling. Jet bent over him and gave his shoulder a shake. The stranger cracked an eye open with a groan.

"Morning, sleepy-head," Jet greeted him with a wide grin.

"Too early," the young man protested, and curled into the foetal position.

Here it comes, the chapter we've all been waiting for! This is where Jet and Spike finally meet, and where this fic starts earning its "Explicit" rating, so if you haven't minded the tags, please go back and do that before proceeding.

Space Hoppers, or simply Hoppers, as it was known to its patrons, was situated under one of the arches of the high-speed railway connecting Mars' inhabited craters which cut through the middle of Tharsis City. There had been a time when Jet had been a regular, but his last visit had been several years ago, and he hadn't felt the urge to return until now. He slid a few banknotes under the perspex partition, took his towel and locker token, and was buzzed through a door into a warm, humid corridor. He could feel the residual chill of Callisto receding even as he undressed and stowed his belongings in a locker.
He secured his towel around waist and made his way further into the spa complex.

There were few other patrons present, it being a Monday night, and Jet was pleased to find the smallest-and hottest-jacuzzi empty except for a tall, lean-bordering-on-malnourished young man stepping into the water as he approached.
Jet removed and folded his towel, placed it near the edge of the pool, and slipped into the jacuzzi on the opposite side to the stranger. He sunk into the water's warm embrace up to his chin and closed his eyes, letting the bubbles and heat soothe his aching muscles as it chased Callisto's icy memory from his body.

The journey to Ganymede had been uncomfortable, both physically and socially, for the Bebop's crew. A tense silence had fallen over the ship and the three bounty hunters had spoken only when necessary. Rabbit spent most of the time stretched out on the sofa complaining about the heat. In contrast, Jet and Phoenix stalked the ship bundled in layers of clothing and blankets, desperate to rid their bodies' memories of the deep, deep cold of Callisto, despite the ship's HVAC system recycling all the waste heat it could reclaim from the damaged engine into the habitation area. To top things off, the two prisoners had taken an instant dislike to each other and spent the voyage exchanging shouted obscenities across the cavernous storage room to whose opposite walls they had been chained.

Andy Burnham has detended advice handed to asylum-seekers by the government, telling them rape and domestic abuse are serious crimes.
The guidance forms part of a Home Office document entitled "Understanding behaviours and expectations in the UK" which also provides guidance on gender equality and respect in public.

The nine-page document published on Wednesday says it is to help understand what is expected of you when living in the uK" and the "rules and expectations are not just for people seeking asylum, they apply to everyone living here".
It advises that rape, sex with someone under the age of 16 and domestic abuse are "serious crimes" which could lead to prison and loss of support and accommodation, as well as affecting asylum claims.

The code, published by Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), says trans people should use either gender-neutral facilities or the ones that match their biological sex, in places such as gym changing rooms or rape crisis centres.
The guidance was published in June but is now in place in England, Wales and Scotland - despite opposition among some MPs.
It comes 16 months after the UK Supreme Court ruled "sex" in equality law means "biological sex" rather than the gender someone identifies as.
Trans-rights campaigners have called the guidance unworkable, but groups that campaign for sex-based rights welcome the clarity it brings.
The guidance from the EHRC, the equality watchdog for England, Scotland and Wales, provides practical advice for services, public bodies and associations on how they should interpret the 2010 Equality Act.
It applies to organisations as diverse as cafes, leisure centres, public toilets, domestic violence shelters, bowls clubs and many more.

The officious young woman who escorted them to the Bebop declined Jet's offer of a cheque and explained tersely that the docking clamps could only be released on receipt of full payment of the outstanding docking fees. Jet muttered a vague promise about transferring payment first thing tomorrow as he shoved the prisoner through the airlock. Phoenix followed them into the space between the exterior and interior hulls, its walkway at a standstill while the spacedock's own gravity generation system negated the need for the inner hull's rotation.
Jet called Rabbit's name as they entered the habitation area, but the only sound came from the rattling ceiling fan. After seating the bounty head at the bottom step the staircase and securing his handcuffs to a banister, Jet made his way to the bridge.

Jet barely slept that first night on Callisto.
Between taking his turns watching over the prisoner and lying shivering on the double bed under a thin blanket-the next time he visited this godforsaken moon, he vowed, he would bring a winter coat-staring at the cracked, water-stained ceiling and imagining various violent endings which could have befallen Rabbit and the Bebop, he doubted he got an hours' sleep in total. When he did finally drift off, it felt like only a minute later when he was awoken by the bounty head rattling his chain and demanding breakfast.

Chapter 1

Jet Black paused at the top of the ladder leading down to the Bebop's engine room and slid his hand under the neck of his T-shirt. He massaged his left shoulder in the hope of working some heat into the muscles and chasing away the chilled-to-his-core feeling he'd carried with him ever since his impromptu stay at the dingy hotel on Callisto with its broken central heating.
It did nothing to relieve the ache and cold, which was especially acute at the point where his cybernetic arm fused with his flesh, as if the steel prosthesis was yet to catch up with the fact that it had left the frigid satellite and its Arctic climate three days ago. He picked up his bag of tools with a sigh and descended the ladder.

"It is cold, " Goemon confirmed with a slight shudder as Jigen dripped the oil from his hand onto the samurai's skin.
Jigen bent over him, put his lips close to his ear and purred, "It'll warm up soon enough."

Jigen rested a hand on his stomach, just above the knot of the towel wrapped around his waist, enjoying the sensation of clean skin after showering away the sweat and dirt of the failed heist. He surveyed the maisonette's living room. Judging from the empty vodka bottle lying on the sofa and the loud snoring coming from the adjoining bedroom, Lupin had made it safely back to the hideout and was avoiding facing his partners-in-crime-for now-by drinking himself into a unconsciousness.
"Stupid friggin' Lupin. Stupid friggin' plan," he muttered, kicking the bottle. It skittered across the bare floorboards.

Notes:
This fic was inspired by the following dialogue from Part 2, episode 38, 'The Sweet Trap of ICPO':
[About to bail on Lupin when the police show up at the hideout]
Goemon: You wanna go get a bite to eat?
Jigen: Yeah, I could go for a pizza.
This, along with Goemon's extreme dislike of Western food in general, spawned the idea that Goemon that he might be lactose intolerant, but keeps making an exception when it's pizza because-well-it's Jigen who's asking, and Goemon really does like spending time with him.
I headcanon Jigen as a lapsed Catholic based on some very spurious evidence in canon: him offering Goemon a crucifix in Part 2, episode 87,
"When the Devil Calls to Lupin, and him crossing himself during the chase with Zenigata on the roof of the train in 'Zenigata and the Two Lupins'.

Chapter 7: Three's a Crowd

Summary:
He smiled down at his-What was Goemon to him now? 'Friend' didn't do the evolving intimacy in their relationship justice, but 'lover' felt like it needed to be discussed before he applied it to the man lying beneath him
—so he settled for 'companion, ' at least for now. The blissed-out look on the younger man's face made his heart skip a beat. Jigen shuffled himself a little way down Goemon's torso so he could rest his head on his shoulder.
Goemon heaved a contented sigh and raised a hand to lazily pet the back of Jigen's hair. Jigen sighed too, and closed his eyes.
A dull thud as the bedroom door was flung open startled Jigen out of his deep relaxation. Goemon sat bolt upright, pushing the marksman off his chest while Jigen scrambled to pull the covers over them both.

Chapter 8: Fish & Chips in London

Summary:
"How's your fish?"
"Inadequate."
"Yeah? Well, this is the only place that's open."
Jigen took a long drag and blew the smoke out of the corner of his mouth.

The heist had been a bust. Getting into the vault had been too easy. Inevitably, Fujiko had double-crossed them, and Zenigata had been lying in wait along with half of Scotland Yard as they emerged with the loot, and the gang had run right into the trap. Worse, they had been forced to toss the treasure into the Thames in order to escape.
Jigen washed the last of his food down with the dregs of a mug of milky tea and fished in his pocket for his cigarettes. Across the formica table, Goemon was painstakingly scraping the batter off a fillet of cod, wincing every time he moved his right arm more than a few centimetres.
"You want me to cut up your food?" Jigen had meant to make the offer gently, but clenching his jaw against the toothache that had been bugging him for the last forty-eight hours made it come out gruff.
"No." Goemon didn't look up from his plate.
