Still early days but I’m about 2/3 through the character progression.

Just did a major story boss battle in Aniimo and this game RIPS! The boss aniimo gets a FromSoft-like boss intro, and then later the boss was throwing projectiles like a Housemarque game and the music was popping off.🤯

My first sparkling aniimo! I love her! (Sparkling aniimo are sort of like shiny Pokémon)

My first sparkling aniimo, Fahloo.

Her head resembles that of a normal pointed beak bird with white feathers. Her body is pink and vaguely resembles a mass of pink soap bubbles. Her legs look like they have leg warmers made of pink soap bubbles.

She has bubbles and a special sparkling effect floating around her.

My first sparkling aniimo, Fahloo, floating while seated in a mostly transparent, rainbow tinted bubble. There are rock formations and trees behind her, and lightning in the sky even further in the background.

Aniimo is a legit top tier creature collector game. And they cracked free-to-play. A whole Pokémon-like MMORPG where the F2P grind is essentially relegated to shiny hunting and event stuff (items, some costumes, etc.). The visuals, storytelling, combat, monster designs, etc. are all fantastic.

Isibéal (center) and two of her Aniimo: Turbo (left) and Hexxin (right).

Turbo is a big floofy sheep with a body that looks like he’s made from clouds, two horns that curve and point back, and some colorful swirls. The colors and swirls are based on Vincent van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” painting.

Hexxin looks like a combination between a large flower and a witch. Her body is made of leaves, and the leaves and purple flower above her head looks like a witch’s hat. Her face is white, her mouth has a top row of sharp teeth, and her eyes look melancholic. She has magic runes floating around her and glowing magenta.

Isibéal has her straight brown hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Her eyes are brown.

She's wearing a mostly black punk outfit:
- triangular sunglasses that rest just below her eyes
- a black leather jacket with white fur around the top that’s slipped off at the shoulders

- a black leather bandeau with a blue layer underneath

- a black leather skirt with a section made of purple, pink, and blue plaid

- black knee high leg warmers

This sucks for many reasons. But I think it's worth emphasizing how selfish and duplicitous it is to go work with a public-facing, community-focused media org like MinnMax without disclosing this part of your past to them. (MinnMax confirmed to me they were not told.) Please support them if you can

It’s The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. I wouldn’t wish the cruelty of the Canadian Indian residential school system on anyone. I wish my own country would begin to reckon with all it’s done to our indigenous people. For now I find some satisfaction in my wife’s country trying.

A National Day for Truth and Reconciliation shirt.

It’s orange with a black print. In the center is a Salish orca design by Salish artist Darren Tahom.

Around the outside of the orca on the top left are the words “EVERY CHILD MATTERS”. Around the outside of the orca on the bottom right are the words “CHAQUE ENFANT COMPTE”.

There are plenty of creature collector games that take bigger swings than Pokémon and do some things better or more unique, but ultimately end up doing more things worse than a typical Pokémon game. Aniimo has achieved the former, and so far in my playthrough hasn’t done the latter.👀

My sweet pups. I have the two single type (fire) Flameruffs. I think there’s a third double type (fire, earth) I haven’t seen yet. Also, if any friends play please add me.

My Aniimo character, Isibéal standing between two sleeping Flameruffs.

Isibéal has straight brown hair in a high ponytail, and is wearing a tan sleeveless top with big sleeves over the shoulders, and skirt with brown accents.

The Flameruffs look like big wolves. One with has dark brown fur with white fur underneath. The tips of its fur are shaped like flames and are yellow. It has yellow fur above the eyes, and a yellow fur X on its forehead.

The other has black fur with white underneath. The tips of its fur are shaped like flames and are orange. It has orange fur above the eyes, and a grey X on its forehead.

Both have orange fur paws.

Before and after the Aniimo tutorial missions. This game is really really fun but the UI is a hot mess and there’s a lot of stuff I suspect I’m missing because they throw so much at you immediately. I just noticed I have no picks of my Aniimo.😅

My Animo character, Isibéal, taking a selfie. She’s winking and holding up the V sign.

She has her straight hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Her hair color is brown with some light brown/dark blonde streaks. Her eyes are brown.

She's wearing a mostly white school uniform with light blue sleeves, a sailor color with light blue stripes, and a pink ribbon with a light blue and a white stripe along the bottom of the right end of it. Her hands have white fingerless gloves.

My Animo character, Isibéal, posing for a picture. She’s giving a slight smile and holding up her open hands beside each side of her face.

She has her straight hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Her hair color is brown with some light brown/dark blonde streaks. Her eyes are brown.

She's wearing a black sleeveless body suit with yellow gold accents, and a high tech looking white chest piece with an equally tech-y looking collar. Her hands have white fingerless gloves. She’s wearing a yellow gold skirt with 2 black stripes around the bottom.

My Animo character, Isibéal, from the waist up. She has her straight hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Her hair color is brown with some grey streaks. Her eyes are brown. She's wearing a sci-fi tech-ware type jacket with a white body, grey sides and sleeves, and pink piping.

Xbox capitalizing on PlayStation’s fumbles is never going to lead to any real competition if a week later Xbox is ridding itself of hundreds (or more) talented workers and PlayStation gets news stories that are basically “Marathon sounds cool as hell” or “Rumored Animal Crossing-like next year”.

The Crown does a really funny (and honest) thing where they present each person during their youth as wonderful and inspiring, and then the second they become adults and the “responsibility” of their positions start to matter the show is basically like “These are demons and you should hate them.”
