Of all the possible KWW’s that was certainly the least ugly option.

I had a very sophisticated call. To prove their legitimacy they sent me a text. I checked and sure enough there was a new message, apparently from my bank. The only problem was that there were a whole thread of previous messages, but I always delete every banking message as soon as I read it 🤨

Alternatively, when eels just aren’t slippery enough.
When you have tired of shoving eels up your jacksie and are looking for something even more slippery and disgusting, find yourself a Farage.
Photo of Andrew Tate getting a pre-insertion thumbs up from Nigel Farage.

The Iranians gave US bases in the Gulf a real pasting but The US leadership & their regional allies managed to suppress reporting so the US public remain ignorant. If a successful attack was carried out in the UK they wouldn’t be able to hide it and that terrifies them more than an attack itself.

Eaton is a prestigious public school ? More or less prestigious than Eton ? Or Harold ? Or Westmunster ? 🤨

Just watched Ep1 of The War Game. Was the dialogue of the main participants mostly scripted ? Or are those ex politicians really so totally unsuitable to have ever been anywhere near the levers of power ? Jim Murphy comes over so badly it’s easier to believe the makers had a vendetta against him. 😮

Easily done. The plethora of UK maritime authorities is a confusing mess. Try figuring out if a fisheries protection vessel is armed or not. 🤪 Answer: The RN ones are, the civilian ones aren’t. 🤷‍♂️

Tom Duncan @capntom.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
The UK Coastguard is a civilian organisation. Coastguard vessels and personnel are unarmed.

My lager & lemonade top drinking friend had a career playing rugby, played for the Welsh national side a few times before a horrific leg break ended his playing career.

At a posh seafood restaurant in Genoa with another shipmate. Thought the lobster was an absolute steal. Ate lobster after lobster all night. When the bill came we nearly had a heart attack. Didn’t realise the price was per 100g Had to phone the ship’s agent to come with cash. He wasn’t best pleased.

I was once refused service in a Brewdog pub because I ordered a lager with a lemonade top (for a friend, I wouldn’t drink that !) 😮

Not a posh restaurant, but a waterside restaurant in Cyprus. There was half a lemon on my side plate. I ate it. It didn’t taste very lemony and I was a bit disappointed tbh. I then noticed every other restaurant patron using it to clean the grease off their fingers. 😳

I’ve always been known by my middle name, except, on joining my first company I was addressed by my first name. Moving companies I never corrected the assumptions made by anyone reading an HR file. It was great being able to identify any tosser from the office phoning my home, by their greeting.

I had starlings emptying my feeder in an hour a few years ago but rarely see a single one these days. We have a grapevine, we don’t pick the grapes. In autumn a flock of Starlings would descend on them, swallow 3 grapes each, whole, and fly off to return exactly 50mins later until the vine was bare.

Same here, I put up a niger seed feeder and didn’t get a single visitor. I swapped it out for sunflower hearts and have around a dozen goldfinches squabbling to get on the feeder every day. Pigeons grab anything they drop.

I saw him live, with his band, Japan, at Glasgow Apollo in 1978. They were awful. I started listening to him again after hearing him sing on the soundtrack to the film Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence. Since then I have come to the opinion that he is a criminally underrated singer & songwriter.

Yes, but they would have to know how far each ship had had its Derrick posts moved. At the same time, the height of the posts & masts were often altered as U-boats had data on mast heights on various models of UK ships and used that to calculate range. 😕

At the start of WW2 the symmetric positioning of the mid ships Derrick masts on oil tankers gave U-boat captains an easy method of finding the tankers heading. When aligned the ships course was 90 degrees from its bearing. Tankers were quickly modified with offset equipment to counteract this.

My best guess is near the dropped pin on this map. From some of the main roads in the area you can get a “streetview” that doesn’t look too far out. I’ve added a view that shows what could be the buildings in the distance in your photo. To get the alignment correct, the photo was taken further east.

It was going to be the original BBC computer but delays led the BBC to look elsewhere. It was compact enough to take to sea in my luggage and, although it only had a one line display, it was possible to code and use without a monitor, though that was a bit of a slog tbf.

I would hope that police are taking action against the blatant breach of regulation 100 of the Road vehicles (construction and use) regulations 1986 and the Road Traffic Act 1988 Shown in that video. Transporting persons in the back of a cargo van is illegal.
