Here in Alberta, we have over 200,000 orphaned, abandoned, non-producing, and marginal oil and gas wells. These wells are a major leakage hazard, adding heat-trapping methane to the atmosphere and carcinogens like benzene into local airsheds.

Greenhouse gas emissions from Alberta's oilsands have also continued to set new records. They hit 86.5 megatonnes in the latest National Inventory Report. (By comparison: Quebec's *total* emissions were 78.9 megatonnes that year.)
