Xie Lian with his hair in a bun is such slutty househusband mode. He’s getting shit DONE and he’s giving Hua Cheng a peep show at the same time

#mxtxtober26 day 10: weapon fearsome cursed scimitar who??

three digital doodles of Eming... having fun with ruoye. in the largest one, he is wearing a maid dress and gazing seductively at the viewer. in the top doodle, Eming is suspended by ruoye, tied up in beautiful patterns. in the last one, ruoye ir wrapped around Eming right below the eye like a collar. Eming is wearing dog ears. in all doodles, both of them are blushing and Eming has the most blissed out sparkly look in his eye.

Aka. JW was following up on prayers people were making to XL and killing his followers. It ties into HC telling XL he didn't leave that flower (in a temple in THE yong'an town XL went to to bring rain), & uncharacteristically saving people who 'mysteriously' wound up in Mt Tonglu.

TRUE REAL AND TRUE I didn’t give Hua Cheng enough credit. Also Jun Wu fucking blows. Thats super levels of dickery

I believe most readers actually skip any part that isnt just HuaLian. Which is lame. So many great side characters and storylines that add layers to everything happening in the book

๑Candy_Grapes๑ @candygrapes781.bsky.social · 9h

Wahhhhh now I’m crying more for her. HC really is a great dude. I wish she got a better ending, but I know that’s also purposeful. I wonder if Hua Cheng had any inkling on who killed her and why. He’s a very curious guy, especially about anything to do with XianLe and their connections to Xie Lian

๑Candy_Grapes๑ @candygrapes781.bsky.social · 9h

And her actions also led to the fall bc of the protests against Yong’An. She was able to see that there were many factors that led to their fate and she didn’t seem to hold it against strictly Xie Lian like many of the other citizens did. She is such a good character and I want more for her

110

๑Candy_Grapes๑ @candygrapes781.bsky.social · 9h

I LOVE THAT IDEA!!!! I totally agree that she is 100000% a part of the XianLe group bc she was! And is! Hua Cheng recognizing her and keeping her safe is so perfect and how lenient he is with her over the Paradise Manor fiasco helps with that too. He most def knows she’s from XianLe too

Right! And it'd be nice if there was at least some acknowledgement that there's not just a Xianle trio or quartet. She is as Xianle as they are. But people pass that off

141

๑Candy_Grapes๑ @candygrapes781.bsky.social · 10h

Her story is so sad and deep and she is the representation of how women specifically were affected by the fall of XianLe, which the trio each have to face through her at different points in their story…. And she gets reduced to Feng Xin’s “side piece” Which is really really sad

Silly doodle of Xie Lian holding a large bowl of something questionable (the contents are pixelated). He is proud and happy about the results. A doodle San Lang is giving a cheeky thumbs up. Above reads: What doesn’t kill you makes your stomach stronger*
Below: terms and conditions may vary
Below San Lang it reads: San Lang approved

⚫️🔴⚪️ Tonight 🔴⚪️⚫️ "Don't be afraid, gege." Chapter One of "Corner is Gold, Side is Silver, Center is Grass" arrives tonight at 9:30 PM EST! Hope you're ready! #tgcf #hualian

Illustrated grey ink wash fanfic book cover depicting Xie Lian and Hua Cheng from Heaven Official's Blessing/TGCF leaning toward each other over a weiqi board.

On the left, Xie Lian has his hair styled in a loose bun, and he's wearing black slacks and a white, high-collared, ruffled shirt with lace cuffs; one hand is gently tugging a few strands of black hair.

On the right, Hua Cheng, with his hair down, is wearing a red dress shirt and black slacks.

They both smile faintly at one another, their lips meeting in an almost-kiss.

Both men's hands rest on the board that is strewn with red and white flower petals.

Xie Lian's hand touches a white stone while a red stone rests between Hua Cheng's hands.

The side of the table where the weiqi board sits is also strewn with red and white flower petals. On the right side lays a red flower.

The author name "Charis" is in the upper right hand corner, and the fic's title, "Corner is Gold, Side is Silver, Center is Grass" occupies the open middle space between the two men.

Story summary card for the Hualian aModern AU Fic, "Corner is Gold, Side is Silver, Center is Grass," by Charis using the blurred cover art as a background.

The story is rated Explicit and is inspired by Hyperventilation.

Summary:

Meet Xie Lian. 26. Single. Chronic lung condition.
Now, he’s a professional Weiqi player, but back then, he was Class Three’s Biggest Loser.

And this loser has nursed an eight-year-long crush on Class Golden Child, Hua Cheng, who is now one of Xianle City’s most famous—or infamous—criminal defense attorneys.

In the wake of a championship game, Xie Lian receives an impromptu invitation to a class reunion. Believing this to be his one chance to finally show Class Three that he’s not the same sickly kid they remember, and maybe make that love connection he’s been longing for, Xie Lian is devastated when Hua Cheng arrives with a silver wedding ring on his finger.

But when an intimate conversation in the dark leads to a surprise kiss and a tempting proposition, Xie Lian, who has spent his life predicting outcomes and calculating risk on the weiqi board, thinks he knows exactly what kind of game he and Hua Cheng are playing.

He’s never been more wrong.

On the bottom is the release date for the first chapter: Friday, October 9th.
