"No Longer Coverable", by Jayden Deskes (2025) Art on loan from Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation. Thank you; we are grateful. Tonight, our museum sign will be illuminated orange to acknowledge National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Two canvases nailed together depict an unnamed residential school. An opening, partly stitched together, reveals orange and red handprints beneath the surface. The orange handprints represent truth and reconciliation. The red reflects teachings received by the artist that red is a colour the spirit world can see. Together, the handprints bear witness to the physical and spiritual violence of residential schools.Artwork: "No Longer Coverable"

We have a community garden. Want to use it? Great. Come and join us on Wednesday afternoons or Friday mornings. It’s a friendly and informal crowd. All are welcome. Zero cost. And it’s as much a social thing as a horticultural thing.

Early results from our user surveys show that event attendees are learning skills and acting on that new knowledge.
Pie chart showing responses to a learning-impact question. Half of respondents (50%) selected “Yes (I learned something that I am now doing).” One quarter (25%) selected “Don’t know.” Equal proportions of 12.5% selected “Almost (I learned something that I will do)” and “No (I’m doing exactly the same as before).” The largest segment is “Yes,” indicating that most respondents reported changing their behaviour based on what they learned.
