Because I would assume if they're willing to make an arbitrary choice there, they could make an arbitrary choice with literally anything.

WIP. More mushrooms are sprouting! None are attached yet, but this is more or less how they will be arranged.

WIP art quilt featuring a cluster of pale mushrooms on a dark log or tree trunk, with a verdant background. Not all the mushrooms have stems yet, and there is an unfinished region of moss beside them.

WIP. I’d set this art quilt aside for ages after getting stuck on how I wanted to build mushroom caps. Brought it out again today and figured it out! Sometimes projects need to sit on the shelf for several months before they can be continued.

Our culture has such a reliance on art, mixed with so much disdain for artists' lives. Someone throws soup at a painting in a gallery or whatever and everyone acts like it's a literal murder, but that level of sympathy is for the object, almost never for the living conditions of artists.
