Yes I was literally about to post that, it’s aping the line from Orpheus where he says Neo’s ”beginning to believe“

Honestly my favorite thing about the campaign is actually how Garek starts off rash and abrasive while he’s alive which mirrors Arthas at his worst moments but than after his death seems to have fully internalized all the lessons that Landron was trying to teach him while they were together.

Also the use of visdev as a technical sounding insult is new, that’s not something I can say I’ve ever seen before. What is that even supposed to mean?

I will say a lot of the ’reviews’ you highlighted are just people accurately describing the circumstances around the production like it’s bad. “Why does this project by students feel like a project by students?” ass posts.

I will say stuff like trying to balance the climate with human flourishing is alway going to be kind of a delicate balancing act, but as far as stuff like trans rights and not supporting Israel’s genocide those are actually pretty simple thing to figure out.

I will say I just decided to google Sasha and Aporia just to make sure h’s not a fellow aporia podcast alumni or something and bizarrely he’s not. If anything multiple people at the the blog including Emil Kirkegarrd (the guy with the Pioneer fund mone) seem to hate his guts.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to point out this has been a cottage industry for a few years now. Psychology with Dr. Ana has a whole range of videos talking about this and dissecting several books on the subject and it gets repetitive listening to them because they heavily copy from each other.

Was watch the MovieswithMark video on it and had to tap out, Alex’s animation style and voice (as a writer) genuinely annoy me a lot.

I will say this thread isn’t strictly like wrong textually though I will point out that some of the presumption is partially based on people reading into Gooseworx’s posts based on conversations I have seen anecdotally in other places. I fully agree the text avoids using any one specific label.

There’s so many little touches about this I enjoy, from the pose, the underwear, the fang poking out, it’s fantastic.

I will say the accessibility arguments have always been extremely funny to me, especially when it comes to framing artists as the ultimate gatekeepers of the craft while just ignoring how all the raw materials and stuff artists need cost money to access. Painters don’t own the canvas manufacturers.

Entertaining episode, do recommend if you can stomach some of the harder subject matter. I did have a thought that stuck out of me consistently listening to it is how much the author just seems to dislike talking to people. His pushing in favor of stuff other than talk therapy seems to reflect this.

That’s extremely funny, I just got flashbanged by that scene recently too

It does genuinely feel like they're kneecapping it a lot by just moving away from a lot of the visual touches that made GW2 so interesting to start with

It’s baffling to extend that to like the entire account including text posts though, especially when it’s also including another warning for the image under the first warning for the text itself. it’s infuriating that I can’t just green light all text posts and just keep it on images like it was.

Calinas @calinas.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
I will say I genuinely hate the Adult Content flag for text posts. I appreciate the warning for images because that’s generally pretty good in terms of letting me skim posts on my phone in public without worrying about having to do an entire alternate feed.

What really chafes too is IIRC the guy who invented the tests and stuff basically intended it to be something you test regularly to identify what students need help academically. All the eugenicist shit and this idea that it’s a static number came later when diff people had a chance to fuck with it.

I do think there ought to be a point made of distinguishing a reading of a character that doesn't strictly line up with intent vs coding which always feels was more explicit in most cases where it comes up. I will say only having watched like two of Noah's videos he wasn't the best analyst.

I will say (as someone with autism) I do think you could certainly project elements of autism onto Data and use that to kind of examine your own relationship with a lot of the tropes and stuff associated with it. This is also true of Spock in TOS as well.

This is also a great demonstration of how kinda not all that impressive the current suite of LLMs actually are, we’ve been able to trick people into thinking that chat bots are real for about 60 years.

Am posting this because it’s a good essay and I do want to say I hear tons of other queer cis guys express a lot of befuddlement around a lot of the expectations placed on men growing up and experiencing a lot of friction there too.

What’s also so galling is...if you look at the original video where the woman in the first thumbnail is from she actually is ver grounded and reasonable throughout the entire recording, they basically just pulled one frame of her looking unflattering and have been barfing it up repeatedly ever since

Like Jones did ‘apologize’ insofar as he said the words ‘I am sorry’ at least once. But his general demeanor throughout the trial and his refusal to actually acknowledge the harm he caused/basically tripling down on the conspiracies on his show before & after his court appearances says otherwise

I read the screencap of the transcript you included and I love the “he’s tried to make amends” thing jumps out to me because I think that kinda warrants a citation at the very least from Tom But he kinda just states it as fact and moves on.

I do genuinely think that the Turkey Tom video on Alex Jones is very telling about his media diet and the fact that it’s doing “Alex is just a smol bean, y u so meen?” about the Sandy Hook case in particular is wild.

Honestly if their pricing was more reasonable and they didn’t do the bullshit FortNite revolving inventory screen I might consider getting something cheap but even the deepest discounts for stuff I’ve seen are like “we expect you to spend at least 30$” for everything

Aside from just going “He totally knew there was going to be an apology video! He saw the script in advance!” which was already acknowledged and just spending the other 8.5 hours making lame jokes and posturing I don’t really see what this is supposed to do…

It’s so funny you mentioned TJ Kirk because I remember when he made a video discussing a case where a good old boy high school football player got a slap on the wrist for assaulting a girl at his school and Kirk was rightfully appalled by that only to claim “rape culture” didn’t exist later.

That was an appetizer for the Atheism+ thing, which was just a bunch of people suggesting we maybe think about building a coal with other groups to resist the influence of evangelicals. By the time GamerGate happened all the people I had already realized were marks had jumped onto that as well.

Calinas @calinas.bsky.social · 27/04/2026
I will say as someone who grew up immersed in the Youtube Atheism sphere, a revelatory moment for me was ElevatorGate. I saw a bunch of people who I otherwise respected looking at an extremely mild video and just drawing the most insane conclusions from it and throw tantrums.

As you pointed out Animal House was specifically spoofing on colleges in the late 70s going into the early 80s, and I know from other texts that it predates that time period too.

Now it's all just legacy sequels and marvel movies and we're hopefully hitting the tail end of that trend too if we're lucky. Slightly different subject but I don't strictly think the frat boy stereotype is strictly something that was pushed on millennials in particular, it's a very old trope.

Okay like I can totally sympathize with finding a lot of coming of age Rom-Coms of the early 00s being kind of shallow and repetitive, because they were. But that's not really part of like a grand conspiracy, it's part of a trend in what got funding. You don't see them now because people got bored.

You did a good job of dissecting the weird "Middle east = Sahara" misconception that a lot of very sheltered people have too. Will probably add more to this thread as I watch.

Like the way he chooses to frame this is genuinely baffling, the pearl clutching about the music is also extremely funny. I'm neurodivergent and some flavor of asexual and often find things 'normal' people do kinda baffling but that doesn't mean there's a conspiracy to make me uncomfortable.

So I'm watching this and the section around 50 minutes in where he's complaining about a dance hall having a "bar simulation". Given that this islikely a public/commercial event space, it's just a normal bar that happens to be serving soda because it's an event for minors.

But not actually substantially commenting on any of the individual images you use leaves you open to people misinterpreting your stuff. He even goes so far as to label his own work in the video which is fine but raises the question why he didn’t for anybody else.

Calinas @calinas.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
Actually having had a few minutes to mull it over a bit more I do actually think the entire minimalist art gallery approach he decided to do for the visuals of his video were genuinely kinda bad, like if you don’t want to just didactically label stuff as good or bad sure, you don’t have to do that
120
Calinas @calinas.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
Genuinely a lot of the images moving around in his background seems to have been extremely unmotivated, as you and other people have pointed out the video seems to have not been intended to be particularly persuasive in any way so it’s essentially jangling keys.
130
Calinas @calinas.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
Outside of maybe some of the individual images he threw up not being intended as 1:1 comparisons which is fair though I would argue if that’s the case than it’s due to a series of bad editing decisions on his part and not you for just assuming that was his intention
