Kasabian so profoundly apt as a comparison

Yeah I remember quite liking that first record, and not minding the second. Everything they've touched since has been ... very very very bad ... you hear "it's good they're trying something new" and the something new sounds like 64kbps mp3 files of Massive Attack and Interpol playing at once

Yesssss agreed. "Having a vibe" for the sake of "having a vibe".

I think the most salient point remains, though. The Peel Sessions box set is 7 hours long. There are 31(ish) albums. Infinite live stuff. There's no need to magic up new "Fall" music out of old vocal cast-offs. There's enough there.

I wrote this at the start of the week ("My favourite band’s “final album” is coming out on Friday. So why don’t I care?") but the more I reflect on it, the more pissed off I am by it bestfitmusic.substack.com/p/fall-bands...

My favourite band’s “final album” is coming out on Friday. So why don’t I care?

The Fall’s “Post Script” arrives this Friday. But it is a far less perfect, essential ending than the group’s actual ending.

I reviewed the new Trá Pháidín album for Best Fit. It is stupid good. Batshit good. A boggy mix of post-rock, free jazz, naturalistic ambient. Read here – it's out on Friday www.thelineofbestfit.com/albums/tra-p...

Trá Pháidín cultivate a modernist Irish sound that defies easy categorisation

Trá Pháidín aren’t trying to modernise a form rooted in tradition; rather, they are seeking to bricolage something novel.
