In a study by Joana Tang and Carla D’Antonio, they investigated the performance (i.e., growth, biomass production, mortality, reproduction) of different local and Juncus bufonius under imposed drought regimes and in competition with a common invasive plant species, Festuca perennis.

In a study by Walter Koenig et al., they compared acorn production in Tanoak (insect-pollinated) and true oaks (wind-pollinated). Comparing long-term acorn production data for Tanoak and Cali true oaks, testing the hypothesis that Tanoak shows less evidence of masting behavior than true oaks

Lithophragma maximum is a narrow endemic, restricted to San Clemente Island. Classified as Endangered under both the California and the Federal Endangered Species Act. In this study by Kristen Hasentsab-Lehman et al, they assess the genetic diversity of the species across its range using ddRADseq.
