Pope Leo XIV issued a message for #WorldFoodDay yesterday calling for a food system that works for the common good. One of the issues with the current debt system is that it helps to feed food insecurity. Find out more. ⤵️ cafod.org.uk/news/campaigning-news/…
A photo of Pope Leo XIV with a quote from his message for World Food Day 2026:

"Using appropriate technology to cultivate the land is an expression of the human person’s role as God’s collaborator in the work of creation. However, when modern technology is used in agriculture in ways that strip the soil of its natural fertility or drives farmers from their land, motivated solely by financial considerations, this cannot be regarded as progress, but instead a sophisticated form of destruction."

News is breaking about a powerful earthquake that has struck Panama. Please join us in praying for all who have been affected and those responding. 🙏
A prayer graphic with an image of a candle. It reads:

"God, our strength and our help
in times of trouble,
be with your people now,
in the aftermath of this earthquake.
Move us to come together
offering shelter for the homeless,
rest to the weary
comfort to the injured and distressed
so that although all is unsteady
and faith may be shaken,
the light of your hope shines through.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen."

Today is the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi and also marks the end of the Season of Creation. 💚 With 2026 being 800 years since his death, Pope Leo declared this to be a special year in which we are all called to become saints in our world. cafod.org.uk/pray/year-of-st-francis
An illustration showing Saint Francis of Assisi holding a sheep with a deer pressing its nose against him.

St Francis loved and believed God wanted people to care for creation. He called all animals his 'brothers' and 'sisters', and is said to have been able to calm wild beasts. He wrote a famous prayer giving thanks to God for the sun, the moon, the water and the earth.

We can all learn from St Francis to love and look after our world, and care for creation."
