“Each three years, a champion is elected and a statue erected in their name.” Leo told him.

Adam stopped in front of a series of identical human-like statues. He pointed to them.

“Those were the ninja tribunal, actually.” Don explained. “The group of mystics that trained us to defeat the tengu Shredder. One of the statues was actually removed after one of the members betrayed them centuries ago.”

Case in point, he waved at an empty pedestal, where a single helmet resided, left on the flat surface. The name was scratched at the front of it.

“And here is the most important statue!” Mikey exclaimed. He rushed in front of a suspiciously recognizable one, taking in the same pose as it had. “Tada! What’d you think?”

Adam paused in between Mikey’s statue and Leo’s. Both looked similar to each other, but the poses had been purposefully changed to differentiate them, unlike the tribunal group.

“Very cool.” He told them. “You sure it’s safe?”

“Yeah yeah, it’s fine!” Mikey waved off in that way that meant that it could very well be dangerous but he didn’t care. Adam was not convinced. “But don’t I look super heroic?”

Adam nodded. He guessed so.

“Waaaaaah!” Ellie exclaimed as she spotted the colorful boxes and bags they placed by the coffee table. “Wed!”

“Woah hey, you can’t choose a gift already!” Mikey exclaimed. “Don’t you want the orange one instead? Orange is the best color!”

“Heh, think she disagrees.” Raph replied. “Clearly she knows da best one’s red.”

Mikey blew a raspberry at him before turning back to Ellie. “Then you can’t be in the super bus anymore. Shoo, shoo!”

Ellie eagerly jumped down without a second thought. She ran to the biggest box around, slapping her hands over it.

“Wed!” She said.

“That’s… yellow, sweetheart.” April informed her.

“Oooh…” Ellie replied, her eyes drifting back onto the box. “Well… We… Yee…”

“Yel-low.” April repeated slower.

Ellie watched her mouth for a bit as she repeated it a few more times. Then she returned towards the gift.

“Wee-ell…oh.” She tried. The moment after, her hands were pulling on the gift as she gave up on naming it, ripping the paper out. “To-ee!” She giggled.

“Ah, see? It wasn’t even red.” Mikey huffed. “Yellow is closer to orange. Close enough.”

“Tsh, whatever.” Raph responded with an eye roll. “It ain’t orange either.”

“Sorry Ellie, but even birthday girls need their nap.” April told her. “But if you’re a good girl, maybe me or Leatherhead could read you a story?”

Ellie paused with a gasp. Adam could almost see the cogs turn in her heads as she considered it. After a few seconds, she lifted her head, staring at the guests.

“Apple, Casee, Heather!” She decided.

“What? I can’t read stories!” Casey exclaimed.

“Why?” Raph asked. “Ya know how ta read.”

“Yeah but like, maybe I’m dysfunction, y’don’t know.”

“…Do you mean ‘dyslexic’?” Don asked.

“Ain’t that what I said?”

“No, you said ‘dysfunction’ which is fundamentally not the same word.”

“Whatever.”

“Yer a dysfunction.” Raph huffed as he gave him a fist bump on the bicep.

“S’what I said!” Casey exclaimed.

Adam yawned, stretching as he made his way to his bedroom. His arm was suddenly yanked, a door closing behind him. Reflexes kicked in, and he shoved the aggressor away. A three fingered hand stopped him from growling, and he paused.

Three fingers?

“Shh…” Raph hushed him. He was quietly standing in his barely lit room. “Remember this?” He asked him.

He was holding the original rubber mask Mikey loved so much, its hollow eyes looking even creepier in the dull of the room.

“I got an idea fer it.” Raph told him. There was a glint in his eyes that shone in the semi-darkness. “Somethin’ that’ll make sure he ain’t ever wanna prank us with it ‘gain. You in?”

Adam tilted his head unsurely. “What idea?” He asked.

Raph smirked.
