Just wanted to share my feedback since I've been very doomer about getting the "hopium update" these last few years. Felt it was only fair I give a nuanced opinion.

My first thought seeing the new Dev Bloq was "oh, neat!" instead of any kind of unbridled hype. Many of these updates are to be expected at this point, mods have had custom cosmetics since... FOREVER AGO. 2018/2019. Nothing wows me about this, unfortunately.

I will wait to save my opinions on Flux when it drops in early 2027, I'm sure it'll find its own niche, but the more Beat Games destroys good will with the modding community, the more they destroy the game as a whole.

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Everyone's already said it but the new logo is TERRIBLE, holy shit. The logo is iconic and changing it now almost a decade into the game's lifespan is the fattest fucking L ever.

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

We already struggle enough trying to get people up to the latest versions, now mods are going to have to be entirely reworked AGAIN for like the 4th time in the game's existence. Not a great sign tbh.

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

...why is Flux a *part* of Beat Saber? You took the Sabers out of Beat Saber. At that point I feel like Beat Games could've just invested in a new game and that would've been more appropriate. Something tells me this update is going to change too much and leave too many behind.

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

After sitting on it for a bit, the new Beat Saber update feels... weird. Happy to finally hear from the studio after basically 3+ years of zero comms for no good reason, and all of the cosmetic rewards and refreshes to the campaign are really cool, but...

The "sort by" feature on YouTube has completely broken itself so I cant see when people upload videos of my maps anymore :c

001

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

do u guys think theyre ever gonna release custom sabers atp lmao

120

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

i have already lost count of the amount of times i have ragequit the editor lmao, i cannot for the life of me piece the puzzle together on how to combine easings, translations, and rotations. would be nice if someone made a video of like every single easing combo that i could reference or something.

000

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

i've been deep into the official editor this last week and my GOD it is a challenge. i'm currently working on a little documentary of my process learning this behemoth and i have a lot of things to say about it, some good and some bad. i already respected official lighters but wow, y'all are CRAZY.

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

my opinion that nobody asked for on the recent scoresaber bans: lmfao

and to no one's surprise the new beartooth record is a fucking BEAUTIFUL piece of artwork, absolutely LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

000

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

sorry for the rant. i purposely dont interact with the cesspool that is beat saber twt so i didnt really have any other place to publicly share my thoughts on this.

000

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

where i was in the 6 year wait for GD 2.2. at least robtop had the conscience to actually provide a decent amount of updates and previews along the way :c

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

seeing stuff like stage tour make this incredible comeback makes me look at my beloved vr rhythm game beat saber and feel a depressed envy, or longing. maybe we can get there one day, but i just feel like a lot of community good will is being taken for granted lately and i'm right back to

100

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

i'm not asking anyone to reach out or anything but just know that im thinkin about yall at beat games and hope things are going well. i want to think yall are cooking an awesome update that'll draw me back in like arcs and chains did, but with little to no comms lately i have p much lost all hope.

100

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

i just want the game i love so much to succeed, and i know sometimes they have to capitulate to hypercapitalist interests to do so, but i feel like the last substantive update the game got was arcs and chains. that was early 2022. almost 5 years ago.

100

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

i try to keep my criticisms to myself or in very private comversations, but i just continue to be worried for the state of this studio and the employees in it, as well as the state of the game itself. i feel like im going insane, i just want an update thats not another music pack man.

100

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

i know its been talked about to death at this point and ppl in the community are sick of hearing about it but genuinely how has beat games not added custom sabers into the game yet. or like been transparent about literally anything going on for the last few years. what is going on over there? 🧵

110

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

gta6 looks like shit. anyway i cannot wait for stage tour, this is literally the best possible comeback a 5-fret game like guitar hero or rockband could ever have

oh do i have access to bluesky again? texas banned it from me unless i showed my ID and i would honestly rather not. maybe they got rid of it? idk

120

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

why is so much of the beat saber community right wing now. what the fuck happened

130

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

beat saber mappers be like "why did you take down my map?" in the beatsaver discord and the song is called "i hate trans people and think they should die" and their username is "ihateblackppl69" and the map description says "FACTS" and then people still come out of the woodworks to defend them

371

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

it doesnt help that i go by an alias on the bird app, specifically because i didn't want to interact with the beat saber community at all LMAO but like. can you blame me after that last fiasco

020

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

i wish i could message more of the artists that i make maps for about the beat saber stuff tbh. sometimes i just post it to socials hoping that they see it but i get drowned out by the algo most of the time. wondering if i should post some older stuff here in hopes they may see it

120

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

the bytrius map experience is just "oh that doesn't look so bad" and then i kill you

110

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

subtle bio update on my beatsaver page since i'm getting tired of seeing it

130

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

I'm still glad y'all look forward to the maps, truly happy and grateful for it! I've just been thinking of how sad it is that I've kinda lost that now. Maybe I'll just upload more on my secret alt account haha

030

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

Yeah yeah yeah, I know, I know, it's a privileged thing to be complaining about, but a lot of the enjoyment I got out of mapping was seeing people react to it in real time, so it kinda just sucks that it's gone now. It's even harder to request them when I upload so infrequently nowadays.

130

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

I used to go into Beat Saber Twitch streams a lot because I enjoyed requesting the new maps I'd uploaded; it was a lot more feasible to get a blind reaction back in the day. I don't really bother to anymore because people play them before I can even hop in to request them. :c

Just letting y'all know that I'm perfectly fine with you doing whatever you want with my Beat Saber maps as long as you credit me. I make them because I find it fun, and if others want to have fun in a different way, that's totally fine by me :)

Olivia 🏳️‍⚧️ @bytrius.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

I got an opportunity to remake my old wall-map of Death Moon from 6 years ago with Pashankie! It was really fun making a map in a completely new style from the original while also paying homage to it. Excited for you all to play it, I think Pash made a genuinely INSANE lightshow!!!

Caleb Shomo of Beartooth is fucking awesome btw their new song was so cathartic as someone that started their journey into transition recently. seeing caleb so much more comfortable in his own skin and femininity genuinely made me cry i love him
