Wishing everyone a happy #Pride 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈❤️ I always enjoy learning about the multiplicity of Pride flags out there, so I made a little infographic about a few of the most familiar ones

1978:Gilbert Baker creates the 8-color Rainbow Flag, encouraged by Harvey Milk. It flies at the Gay Freedom Day parade in June. (It uses hot pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, and violet.)

Paramount flag company sells a 7-color version (pink fabric too hard to source)

1979: After Milk's assassination, the flag is split in two to fly on both sides of Market Street — requiring an even 6 colors. (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.)

2017: The Philadelphia Flag adds black and brown stripes to include people of color.

2018: Daniel Quasar's Progress Pride Flag builds on previous designs, including Monica Helms's 1999 Trans Pride Flag.
