When we had a councilmember with mysterious spending habits the CM was censured, his case went to the state, he was fined and he can't ever run for office again unless he pays the fine. With our federal representative we accept his excuses, there are no consequences and we keep paying him.

What’s notable about this for me is the guy is with the Danish People’s Party, a hard right anti-migrant party. Aka Danish Trumpism No international right wing unity. These parties are smeared by association with Trump’s policies while not getting the benefit of an int’l supporter There’s hope

Turns out, when you ask people “do you want expensive land in the middle of a city with a housing crisis to be used for a loud, high pollution and dying sport that already has a track 30 minutes away?” the answer is “no.” Shocking tennesseelookout.com/briefs/poll-...

People are calling into right-wing radio shows to voice frustrations with the Trump administration www.mediamatters.org/sean-hannity... What a fucking asshole⤵️
A listener called into Hannity’s show to discuss their child’s cancer diagnosis and advocate for cancer research funding: “With the lack of funding, basically, all you get is parents like me who have had a kid with this, starting organizations and coming up with money to carry on the research for them. So that's why I wanted to call and … advocate for research.” Hannity responded by arguing that “most of the solutions for cancer are going to be found in the private sector, not with public money.” The caller noted that “with such a small number of kids getting this [cancer diagnosis], yeah, it's definitely something that doesn't get looked at as much.” Hannity responded that “even if the government spent … $300 million on this particular cancer tomorrow, it's not going to be your answer.” [Premiere Radio Networks, The Sean Hannity Show, 2/12/25]

…Any Republican saying they are different is lying. And Dems need to start acting like it. Tie these bills to all GOP politicians, supporters of the bill itself or not. Because even if they are opposed, voting for them emboldens and produces these bills, so there’s no practical difference.

Because, after acting fools and causing statewide outrage in ‘23 and ‘24, not a single Republican lost their seat in 24’ in Tennessee at the Federal or State level. Put another way, the lesson they took from 24’ is that there are no consequences for them and they can pass whatever they want…

…Leadership is sponsoring an unconstitutional bill to ban undocumented kids from public schools. One legislator is banning doctors from asking battered spouse if there are guns in their house. Another wants to ban pride festivals? Why? Why are we getting these bills proposed and passed.

As for Kamala, still issues, but not AS bad as out west. She’s seeing growth in the burbs, but not matching Trump’s. Again, completely failed to engage historically Dem metros. The failure to improve a ton in JC, a flippable small city, is particularly disappointing.

And Trump, again, lost votes in the major metros and smaller cities despite their margin shifts tracking with the broader environment.

Digging into where Trump’s vote changed, pretty consistent growth, though this could be attributed to the national environment. Also demographics. Fast growing in the Knox/Chatt suburbs, slower/decrease in the Northeast/KY border.

Now for East TN. As you can see, not nearly the same kind of wild swings you see in the west. Seems to give credence to the idea that the GOP’s margins are pretty tapped out in the west. Not many swings that exceed the state and nation as a whole.
