On the last day of Mermay I’m sharing my selkie Astarion fic: archiveofourown.org/works/856246... 🦭 🌊 ❤️ Gale is a marine biologist + there’s smut, sweetness & monster loving in the y2k era. I’d love if you read! Tags below 🔽 #bg3 #fanfic #mermay #bloodweave #selkie art by @alwenart.bsky.social

Beautiful art of selkie Astarion looking up through red lit ocean waves by alwenart. He has the lower half of a harbor seal complete with flippers, residual fins on his forearms, webbed fingers and claws and cute little flippers. He’s wearing bone earrings in the shape of fishing hooks

"A fair point. Are you saying it's you who's dangerous, then?" Gale asked, his mouth suddenly gone dry. Astarion leaned in, running his tongue over the sharp points of his teeth.
"Oh, what do you think...Gale?" He said his name with such weight, it made his breath catch.
"I think that if you had intended to harm me, you wouldn't have saved me from the waves," Gale replied quietly, his big brown eyes coming up to meet the selkie's. "But your teeth do look...very sharp indeed," he added with a low whistle. "Quite the pair of canines you have."
Astarion's smile turned sharp, but there was a playful glint in his red eyes. He was quite an inconstant creature, Gale had observed, often warring between wariness and preening. There was an undercurrent, too, of something deeper. Old pain, yes, but also loneliness, perhaps. Something Gale was intimately familiar with.
"Not just the canines," Astarion said, his voice a low purr.

"Would you like a demonstration?" Before Gale could answer, Astarion leaned in, closing the small distance between them. He didn't bite hard, but he pressed his teeth against the soft pad of Gale's thumb with a controlled, deliberate pressure. The points of each tooth were needle-sharp, a promise of both threat and utility.
They were for rending, not chewing.
Gale yelped as Astarion bit into the flesh of his thumb, but the cry quickly dissolved into a breathless laugh as he pulled back leaving only shallow indents and slightly reddened skin in his wake. "Oh my," he murmured, his voice still low. His heart felt like a jackhammer in his chest. "Quite effective, I imagine. For...tearing through blubber and shells, that is." He wouldn't mind feeling a bit more of those teeth, he found himself thinking, and flushed. Astarion looked at him quizzically, tilting his head. He was still too close for comfort.

"I can feel your heartbeat through your fingers," he said, his voice dangerously soft. "Quick, like one of those little squid desperate to scuttle beneath a rock and evade me. Are you going to skitter away now, too, scholar? Am I too much for your journals?" There was a challenge in his words that made Gale bold. He lifted his hand and reached tentatively for Astarion's face.
The selkie moved quick as a a flash, catching his hand between his own webbed fingers.
They were a study in contrasts: Gale was all nut-brown skin peppered with dark hair, corded forearms and square fingers with bitten down nails. Astarion was pale as ice, with translucent webbing between slender fingers that ended in dark tapered claws. Gale could see the blue veins beneath the skin at Astarion's wrist as he hovered there, waiting to see what he would do.

Some #virtualphotography I did for a #bloodweave event in a discord. I wanted to experiment with a comic style VP and I'm actually quite pleased with it! I'll probably do more in this format in the future. #Gale #Astarion

I show up at the last minute, but I really wanted to do something for this #mermay. It should have been Gale for me and Astarion for my best friend, but it ended up a #bloodweave fanart. 🤣
