Honouring Black Communities: Black History Month 2026
This Black History Month, we reflect on Black-led organisations in Birmingham and share details of ways your organisation can get involved. If your VCFSE organisation is Black-led and in Birmingham we'd love to hear your stories to celebrate the people whose everyday contributions shape, support and sustain Black life across the UK. We also look at BVSC's internal celebrations to mark the month as we come together to reflect the diversity of our communities.

Call for papers, panels and workshops: 2026 Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Research Conference
Across policy, practice, and academia, expectations are growing that research should do more than generate robust evidence. The 2026 Voluntary Sector & Volunteering Research (VSVR) Conference invites engagement with how research on, and with, the voluntary sector and volunteering can more meaningfully shape policy and practice – and how evidence can be translated into action.

Wood burning is the most polluting way to heat your home, and breathing in air pollution from wood burning increases your risk of heart and lung disease, asthma, diabetes and dementia. This #CleanAirNight share the facts about wood burning.
Jack’s grandfather often used a wood burner, but after visiting, Jack would experience concerning health impacts. “I always found after going that my chest just felt worse. My brother as well has got quite bad asthma, and I don’t think anyone really put two and two together, until a bit later, that he’d always have his worst nights just after [visiting]. Jack, London. Share the facts about woodburning this #CleanAirNight.

The quote is appearing from a cloud of smoke coming from an illustration of a wood burner. The logo for Clean Air Night, with the date 22 January 2026, is in the corner.

Engage for Funding: Christmas Presents - Open Surgery! - 15/12/2025 13:00:00
Join us at the BVSC Engage for Funding Forum on 15th December. In this webinar we are hosting an open surgery for any and all questions you may have. Perhaps you want to know how to do more with your trustees, or have a governance issue, or you have a specific income generation query you want to ask. Sheila and Tony from 4front partners are ready to field your questions and make suggestions based on their experience. We'll also have the latest news, events and funding opportunities.
