Not sure why they decided that duos would be doable, but maybe Netflix’s travel and lodging budget isn’t as high as Amazon’s? We really don’t know

News through the grapevine is that Pop Culture Jeopardy season 2 will be duos, not trios—which some teams of 3 who had booked flights already had do decide who to sacrifice. Really poor showing and not a great way to treat contestants.

Needs repeating that #PressYourLuck is the best new game show on American TV in the past 20 years and Elizabeth Banks is an amazing host who deserves the Emmy for this more than anyone else.

It’s very funny that Millionaire edited out a genuinely funny and interesting moment to instead have 40 minutes of *painfully* slow and dull show after the win. variety.com/2025/tv/news...

I do want to note that while I criticize I don’t think Millionaire and Match Game are bad shows. They’re totally fine. I just was hoping for a little bit more? Especially from Millionaire. Match Game I got what I expected. Millionaire I always hope for a larger effort.

Nice results for ABC’s games last night! 4.2M/0.38 for Millionaire and 3.3M/0.37 for Match Game. ABC must be very happy with those.

The new Match Game also looks really cheap and weird? Like the set and production looks bargain basement. Also the show feels like it's filmed weird, almost like it's in PAL. My joke of "This feels like a GSN version of Match Game instead of an ABC version" was pretty spot on.

271

BuzzerBlog @buzzerblog.com · 24/07/2025

Sorry, not feeling this new Match Game. Martin Short is a better host than Alec Baldwin. The show in general feels worse than the last ABC attempt. This isn't doing it for me.

Next Thursday. I immediately want Harry to win.

071

BuzzerBlog @buzzerblog.com · 23/07/2025

I’m sure it’s going to be fine? I’ll probably check it out tomorrow. I’m just so over my head in what feels like cheap game show schedule filler right now that on the *surface* that’s what this appears to be like. But interested to see the final product.

010

BuzzerBlog @buzzerblog.com · 23/07/2025

Having said all this I need distractions from the news badly because I am absolutely on a doom and gloom spiral so Millionaire and Match Game it is.

0101

BuzzerBlog @buzzerblog.com · 23/07/2025

I’m personally a bit Match Game’d out and I think I’d have preferred to see To Tell The Truth back first? That recent ABC version was a constant delight and insanely fun. Probably more expensive to do though.

071

BuzzerBlog @buzzerblog.com · 23/07/2025

Saying this as respectfully as I can but just in terms of looks, the new Match Game looks like a pre-fake-set GSN version of ABC’s version of Match Game. It’s very noticeably cheaper which was clearly the point of bringing the show back.
