So for me, it's about learning to reframe the task as care. I don't have a hard time understanding that I should care for others. I just have to make sure I see myself as worthy of that same care.

But if I frame it as, "My friend (who is me) had a really hard day, it would be a nice thing to make them a good dinner, and I bet that would make them feel loved and appreciated," it feels like less of a chore, and more of a way to take care of someone I love. Who happens to be me.

Sincerely, one thing I do (with myself and my students) is ask them if they would say or do whatever negative thing they are doing to a friend who they know is struggling. Like, sometimes I have a hard time motivating myself to cook a healthy dinner, because I'm tired and it seems like such work.
