Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 15hI literally walked within 20 feet of the protest a half hour ago. Yes, orderly. Fifty people, some with protest signs, one leading chants. The only cops I saw were parked a block away on Isabella St. There’s a sportsball event nearby which needs closer monitoring. 080
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 15hYeah, really. Note as well this is barely a half mile from where I had the encounter with Councilwoman Darlene Harris. She was doing easily 40 in a 15 zone. 010
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 16hHe misses the bike but 200 yards later passes a car on the right, too. Is that really necessary? 210
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 16hI’m on motorcycle today, sailing down East Street at 35 mph, the posted speed limit. I notice a car behind me, too damn close, less than a car length. Oncoming cars prevent him from passing on the left (never mind the no-passing zone), so he passes me on the right. NHF-9456. Also, bike in bike lane. 181
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Not just you yourself vote, get on the horn and make sure all your college friends, all your softball team pals, all your chess club, all those connections, commit to getting to the polls, early or mail-in if possible. We want 99% turnout. 1282

Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Checked the timetable, needed to leave about 6:20; the 12 started its run at 6:22. I unicycled over to the north end of the 7th St (Andy warhol) bridge. Less than 5min wait. 18:27 12 ob 6103 Sandusky at Isabella. 9/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I rode with the bicyclists and was able to keep up with them easily. As expected, the bikes got to the destination much faster than either the transit riders or walkers. By 15 minutes for transit, 20 or more than walkers. 8/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Six standees but several seats. They could sit if they want. Meanwhile nobody has looked sideways at my taking up two seats. 6/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The 29” unicycle does not fit between seats as easily as do the 24” and 20” but it’s not really in the way. 5/ 200

Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The bus did/does not show up on the tracker. 14:22 came & went, no bus. Is it late, a ghost bus or a no-show? Can’t tell. I started making Plans B & C. 3/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Left the house just after 2. At 14:09 I was at the corner of Perrymont & Lindisfarne, planning to catch the bus at Northway. Due 14:22; I was there by 14:18. 2/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Today is the event beginning at Station Square, essentially a race on {foot|bus|bike} to the North Shore as part of #AWeekWithoutDriving. Well, make that a race on {foot|bus|bike|unicycle}. 1/ 140
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 07/10/202620:25 safely home. Jeez, even that took an hour, with little traffic delay. 13/ 000
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 07/10/202619:20 now to head home. I’m not fond of riding fast when it’s dark so will stick to 19, not I-79. Plus it’s basically a straight line to McKnight & Perrymont from here. 11/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Stopped at home and one more errand, then off to Warshington for the appreciation dinner I was invited to. Also by motorcycle. Took me much longer to get out there than I estimated but did not miss the dinner. Lots of good elbow rubbing. 10/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Showed up with just enough time to get the paperwork done, then into the exam room at exactly 1:30. Having multiple transpo options is very helpful! No bus svc at all up this way & no real alt’v doc for this specialization. 9/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Fifteen minutes at home to repack for the afternoon trip to the doc, then off on the motorcycle. Since it has no carrying capacity I had to dig out my backpack. The scooter has that big hatch; the m/c, nothing. 8/ 120
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Friday, the plan is to take the 29” unicycle on buses to & from the “race” from Station Square to the North Side. Hey, it’s not a car, right? 7/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The trip to Warrendale later, no choice but to drive but can use the motorcycle. Same for later on but have to go all the way out do Washington PA, 40 miles away. The m/c ride might be chilly on the way back but not frigid. Don’t need the car, really. 6/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I am striving as much as possible to adhere to the #WeekWithoutDriving which for me means driving a car as little as possible. Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I scooter to the Park & Ride, park the scooter, hop in her car as driver & drive downtown. Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 06/10/2026A fun travel day. Started off on the scooter with my wife following in the car. Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 02/10/2026We're it mine to decide, I'd inspect them in January as usual and if they pass, great, keep driving them but put a DNR (do not resuscitate/repair) order on them. Might get enough life out of them until the new buses actually arrive. 3/ 100
Stu Strickland @bus15237.bsky.social · 02/10/20266007 is about the oldest bus still running. I know 6001 and 6003 are retired, probably a couple others, too. All the 6000 series will be retired in January, so I'm told. Not sure how; I know they've approved new bus purchases but it's contingent on funding which I didn't think happened yet. 2/ 100
