The grave of General Robert Ross, who burned the White House during the War of 1812, has received offerings

Two notes left on a stone slab. The larger reads, "General Ross, thank you for your service. You are needed again." It is held down with half a brick. The second, smaller note reads, "Now there is a house full of crooks and a ballroom. Burn it down. An American". Five lighters are scattered about.

Halifax’s Old Burying Ground was fictionalized as Kingsport’s Old St John’s Cemetery in Anne Of The Island by Lucy Maud Montgomery. She lived in Halifax 1895-6. Then it was known as St Paul’s Cemetery

The grave of Cristiana Rudolph (1799) in @buryingground caught my eye because of the delightful carving of a bird. The B&W pics are from the Farber Gravestone Collection. They were taken in the 1970s. Fascinating to see how it has changed in 50 years
