Alongside the contributions of our Pou Māori, Reremoana Ormsby, who helped curate some of Carmen's displays, our team designed a custom condom wallet for the exhibition. This year would have been Carmen's 90th birthday, so to breathe life into a piece of ephemera from her past was a real honour.

Carmen Rupe was a trailblazing wāhine Māori who became a larger-than-life LGBTIQ+ figure in the 60s & 70s. WLG Museum's new exhibition, Arohanui Carmen, is an intimate look at who she was, her business ventures, & the echoes that her unrelenting belief in tinorangatiratanga has had on queer history.

Decades of global evidence show that the most effective responses are grounded in science, human rights & communities. We are committed to sharing knowledge, supporting best practice approaches, and standing alongside our Pacific partners as they work to address this challenge.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Fiji, as they respond to the significant increase in new HIV infections. This is a difficult time for many individuals, families & communities, but it's important to remember that HIV is both preventable & treatable. www.nzdoctor.co.nz/article/undo...

We could be the first country to get to zero local HIV transmissions, but only if we come together and take action. Send a message to candidates from all parties in your area, asking them to back common sense policies that help us get to zero. www.burnettfoundation.org.nz/articles/new...

We’ve signed an open letter addressed to the people of Aotearoa and the MPs who represent them because we need your support to ensure this bill does not pass. If you’ve ever said you stand with our communities, this is the moment it matters. Not quietly. Out loud.

As an org working to support, protect, and advocate for our trans, gender diverse, intersex, takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities here in Aotearoa, we are deeply concerned about the far-reaching impacts Legislation (Definition of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill would have.

Some good news for your day. HIV diagnoses in Aotearoa are down again! From 99 to 80, continuing a long-term trend thanks to better treatment & education. But, if we want to get to 0 transmissions by 2030, we have more work to do. Read more here: www.burnettfoundation.org.nz/articles/new...

It wasn't that long ago that NZ'ers came together to eliminate a virus using science and solidarity. Now we have a chance to do it again with HIV. The rate of new local transmissions has been declining, and we have a real shot at becoming the first nation to get to zero local HIV transmissions.
Text across the left half of the images that says "Imagine an Aotearoa with zero* new HIV transmissions. Small actions = real impact." On th RHS is a young Asian main in with a pink filter in the middle of a large white 0 that's part of the Zero by 2030 logo. Small text says *locally acquired.

Using condoms is considered as taking adequate precautions by the current rules. But being on treatment is not, despite there being zero risk of transmission. U=U means that with an undetectable viral load the virus is Untransmittable.

The result of these rules is that it adds to the stigma and puts people living in a difficult situation, where some feel compelled to avoid relationships all together. Here's some of what they had to say.

The report is based on a cross-sectional survey of people living with HIV in Aotearoa. NZ has one of the higher rates of prosecution globally. People can be prosecuted even if they are on treatment and pose 0 risk of transmission to their sexual partner(s).

AI is shaping how ppl seek out health info. They ask AI about HIV, the risks, testing & privacy. If not done right, AI can amplify bias, misinform & expose vulnerability. That’s why we're launching the Burnett Innovation Challenge. www.burnettfoundation.org.nz/articles/new...

U=U stands for Undetectable = Untransmittable, meaning that a person living with HIV who is on effective treatment & maintains an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV to sexual partner(s). And we are just the 5th country to sign onto the global Call-to-Action. 2/4
