Jayvik fancomic. Title: separation anxiety. Panel 1: after an emergency procedure, viktor is pushed on a wheelchair by a vintage nurse. They reach a waiting room. Panel 2: jayce rises suddenly from his seat, stiff as a board. He’s holding something, and viktor gasps. I- jayce, is that for me? Panel 3: a tomato-red jayce is revealed to be holding a large bouquet of pink flowers. I didn’t know what to get you, and the doc said… no sweets until tuesday! So i got you the inoffensive option. To his side, viktor snorts a huge incredulous laugh. He’s delighted. Jayce bristles further and says, you can’t be upset! Next panel, he bows his head shyly. I… I am really, really glad you’re alright, viktor. He offers the flowers to his partner, continuing. To your health, I hope you’re my partner for many more years. Viktor smiles as he reaches over. He touches jayce’s wrist with both hands on his way to pick up the flowers and allows himself to linger. Jayce looks on the verge of tears. The colors of the art simplify, touchy feely pastel pink. Viktor says thank you, jayce. This is, ah, a very considerate gesture. Like you. I’m not planning to go anywhere else, anytime soon, alright? Jayce breaks and begins sniffing. He hides his flooding eyes behind his palm. Viktor slips a thumb beneath his gem bracelet and tugs, keeping them together.

Page 2. A row of 3 panels. Viktor holds the ball of pink flowers to his chest and averts his gaze. A quiet beat, then he says… may you wheel me to my room now? Er, people are staring. Panel 2, chibi jayce flaps his crying face on his elbow like a washing machine to dry out the tears. Panel 3; cartoonishly disheveled and with his face all puffy, he throws a thumbs up at viktor, making himself sparkle. Yes! Jayce says, on it, partner!

Page 3: a single, silent panel, of a blushing viktor bowing his head into his flowers, and taking a flustered sniff. He’s pink, just like them.

doctor viktor holds jayce's notes by his chest, looking apprehensive. he says- 5 years ago, the council ordered the destruction of your research. but i stole this journal for myself. Even though i was aware of... the risk.. i found it a worthy cause. your dream. jayce tsks at his words and turns his face away, his mop of messy hair obstructing his eyes. embarrassed, viktor's voice wavers. he neglected practicing this speech despite how much time he had to prepare. he keeps speaking: the study of magic to help others. a power... accessible to all, regardless of, of, your status, or ability... and a demonstration of how a lifetime of research can be erased in the blink of an eye. i found this not only cruel, but wasteful. It disgusted me. Panel 3, viktor's words float above a brightly burning pyre composed of jayce's prototypes, study books & experiments. viktor's grip on the journal tightens. his emotions towards it are tender. he says; ever since that day, i decided to change. i understood one must be prepared to fight for that which they believe in. by whatever means at their disposal. I kept it safe in the hopes i could return it to you somed-- suddenly, viktor is interrupted by jayce's voice. No thank you. viktor's composure shatters. eh? he asks, confused. I said, no thank you, i'm good, jayce repeats. he's an unmoving figure in the distance. he leans forward, and the hair moves out of the way of his left eye, exposing a very tired face. Jayce's hoarse voice. My mother is coming to visit me this week. that's what matters to me. I would hate to see her wasting her time getting through inspection just to find out I'm being disciplined. i've changed. I dont want any trouble. you can tell them that. tell them who? v cuts in. Your superiors, jayce replies looking away. I'm good with faces. you're heimerdinger's paperboy. even i remember that. paperboy?! v gasps. a mental knife stabs him in the head. no you've got it wrong, i mean, that was a long time ago! not anymor…

page 2 of the comic. viktor considers he might have been wrong that night. He sits on the doctor's chair, slouching, head tipped backwards. thats it? viktor thinks. no tearful reunion. he hardly even blinked. nothing i said matters. jayce is sleeping on the other side of the medical curtain, not aware of this. panel 2. viktor deep in thought. he thinks i work for heimer? hm. fuck. maybe he's right to be wary of me. do i simply give up? panel 3; a miniature jayce sporting angel wings and a halo jumps out of viktor's head, dissipating his monologue. NO WAY! he scolds. panel 4. acting like viktor's conscience, shoulder angel jayce points a big finger at the viewer, fired up. DID I GIVE UP THE FIRST TIME MY IDEAS WERE REJECTED? NO! OR THE SECOND? NO! OR THE 15TH... NO!!!! I WORKED HARDER I POLISHED MY ARGUMENTS! THEY HAD TO LOCK ME IN A CELL TO GET RID OF ME!! panel 5. shoulder angel jayce becomes a little mote of light. A MAN'S DREAMS ONLY DIE WHEN HIS SPIRIT IS CRUSHED! he insists. shortly after that, viktor breaches his head into the curtain, peeking into the patient area. jayce is covered up on the bed and faces away from him. I have some, ah, samples. of corrections i did. viktor mutters. Your theory was solid. but your math was inexact. the silence stretches out, and viktor keeps talking. you don't need to utter a word. I'll show you anyway. he tells jayce, trying to be reassuring. end page.

Panel 2, a close up of a terrified chibi jayce, sweating. holding the blankets around his head. he is deathly afraid viktor is here to catch him breaking the law, and refuses to answer to his cajoling. from the left, viktor's intrusive speech bursts in. jayce. i know you can hear me. caption on the bottom reads: in this AU, viktor switched his focus to medicinal research, so he is a volunteer doctor at the prison some nights.
