Friendly reminder that Duolingo was initially concieved to trick people into translating articles for free, which they later used as training data for MTL algorithms. Duolingo's primary purpose has NEVER been about teaching you a language, even from the start! slate.com/technology/2...

If it doesn’t charge users and, so far, doesn’t serve them any ads, how does Duolingo make money? It tricks you into working as an unpaid translation service. At the end of some lessons, Duolingo will ask you if you want to practice by translating a real-world document. Which will turn out to be, say, a BuzzFeed article. By melding together enough stabs at this task from high-level Duolingo users, the app can render a surprisingly accurate translation. Which is worth good money. So far, Duolingo has contracts with BuzzFeed and CNN to translate stories from English into languages such as Spanish, French, and Portuguese. This service is already earning Duolingo hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, but von Ahn predicts he will be adding a raft of new clients soon. “The language translations market is huge,” he says. “It’s a $30 billion per year market.”

So I would not over-worry about if you feel like your prices are reasonable. If they're going to your shop, they're probably going to buy something, and at that point the price is a little irrelevant other than the 0.000000000000000001% of people who can just be kinda rude.

The two most common methods are: - Pricing based on in-game vended items - Pricing based on the $1:1# system The latter is a pinch more common because it's easy for brains to go, "Four silver is four dollars," and have that be translatable for almost everyone involved.

Tired and disappointed— other people have written out thoughts better than I. But I do think the #warcraft writing team needs to be held and checked to a standard of quality they are just failing. And for the love of the gods hire a PR team again so devs can't keep getting away with dumb comments

I'd argue that, for the metrics, it's vastly MORE important that viewers turn this off. There's more viewers than streamers, so even if every streamer turned this off, if viewers don't, the executives can still claim that "most users don't care" and cram it down our throats even harder. Opt out.

Which is weird because people who used to play on lower settings definitely used to be able to see rain and I'm not sure when they changed that or why it is so prevalent in neighborhoods.
