For #FingerpostFriday - just passed this, tboth nice in the clatter of the remaining letters (as if a storm passed through), and the ghost font left behind in the cleaner white wood.
A wooden road sign with the pointer towards
sewards End
Radwinter

Missing a large number of letters, so it now reads:

SEW. D. ND.

My first instinct is that I'd prefer the road to have a different name. Then the logistics brain kicks in, how does this work? Once the legal change has happened. How long to align PAF, mapping, deliveries, ID, how do I prove I've been living there when the old docs are in the old name.

Earlier this year, I stated that I was working on something comprehensive about CAMP MIASMA. This is a video essay on the history of trans psycho killers and how CAMP MIASMA uses that history for subversion and reclamation. I hope you enjoy it. mubi.com/en/program-n...

Not leaping into October with aches and fuzzy head. I tried a new granola on Tuesday, oats but not certified gluten free oats and I suspect that, with a dose of tiredness catching up on me from busy days. I went to London yesterday but too achy by 6.30 to stay for the comedy gig :-(

In my imagination I was going to get everything sorted for Toby's move by the end of August, and spend September doing craft. It is September 30 and my craft area is boxed in by bookcases and I have not touched it :-) Went to Quilt Class yesterday but just to watch and nod sagely.

Moving some of my furniture into my partner’s house. Finally our favourite chairs can sit by side.
A wooden reading chair, all faux leather, and arms as wide as the sea, sitting alongside a plush red chair the shape of space age punctuation.

First big box move today! 37 Toby crates and boxes and two chairs. Decent van man but it turns out he's on his own and a ground floor to ground floor mover, not really taking furniture upstairs. He did help with the two chairs though so I can still get down the hallway, Toby's visiting tomorrow.

Following "Bizarre things that happened in your assembly" and waiting for the story of the 10yo girl in primary school who put her hand up in assembly to tell everyone the reason why she'd stopped playing violin in the big concert (removing the mute knocked her bridge and she was out of tune).

Decluttering: Swapping the king bed for a double. Do I declutter the sheets (2 fitted, one valance, 15-20yo poly/cotton) or Save Them For Craft Purposes? e.g. dressmaking practice, for toiles etc.

Yay new living room carpet is done; yay very full green bin was emptied; boo very stinky green bin hasn't had its 4-weekly clean, and I'm too tired to kettle it as I overdid it helping the carpet fitter move the heavy TV unit...

"I'll finish clearing the living room before I start on the bedroom." Living room is cleared, a last few things to do on Monday. But it's 5pm and I've not touched the bedroom!

Long Covid update: my brain fog seems somewhat improved from a couple of years ago, I could not have fathomed these connections. Stamina is still limited, including brain stamina. Walking stamina took a knock with last year's infection and not quite back yet, 25 minutes max before rest.

I am disassembling the TV/AV system in preparation for next week's carpet fitting. I think this time the VCR can go up on a shelf for very occasional use, make space for some of Toby's kit.

Today is: waiting for clearance people to come and take one bed, and move another bed and sofa to the garage. We'd agreed the date last week but not the time, but I have plenty of at-home things to keep me going.

Today @tigerears.bsky.social visited and we went to the Mill Road cat cafe.
Cafe table, a grey haired woman looking right, a small pale orange cat sitting on the table looking left, almost as if in conversation but it's a trick of perspective.Cafe table, a bad timing snapshot as the dark tortoiseshell cat is mid snarl with half a tongue out, and the woman behind is caught with an odd face on.

Yay! J came to disassemble double bed, I now have a big bit of useful floor space (for temporary clearing living room for carpet fitters), tiring helping with the unscrewdriving but now I can read all evening.

The Watcher in the background of the Polaroid.
A white figure on the edge of a large grassland. It a mummified shape, arms
tucked into a tidy capsule form. They are startling against the dark green horizon of trees.

(Like 74% of supernatural sightings this was in reality a dog walker)

Unexpectedly hectic morning (bumping some planned tasks) and now I'm going to lie down till 2pm. I wrote down a list of Preoccupations (not the same as Tasks) in big Sharpie and I have 13, plus a few smaller ones in pencil. I wrote minus-diabetes as I'm managing it so well it's not a worry.

Not much next actions, but I have found the two specific things, and amazingly almost all of the paperwork is now sorted into categories and in hanging files where I can find them to do things with them.

Put on a 40 minute CD to do jobs to and it's finished and I've only just got the job prep out. Jobs being taming the paperwork and going through the heaps to find a couple of specific things, and get a good set of next actions.

I have spent ages over-engaged with a bed moving project, difficult as it's so heavy. I've just taken the mattress off. It is suddenly much lighter and I'm feeling silly for being so worried :-)

I was watching a Norwegian film (Ninjababy) with English subtitles. They were arguing about IUDs being"a bit of metal they put in your kitty" and it's taken me a day to realise they meant "pussy".

Ticked a few admin things off my list, hurrah, went to the loo, this time the dodgy flush gave up completely on stopping flushing despite my wiggling everything, so it's off at the isolator screw and I have PLUMBER on my list. (I have another toilet and can flush this with a screwdriver.)

Had a rubbishy ad; the text on the probably AI image read "this qui lt ed bag," the probably AI voice dutifully read out "this qui lt ed bag," and I don't know if it's normal sloppy or deliberately sloppy to grab my attention so I'll share it and you all buy qui lt ed bags. Growls at modern living.

Oh yes, the RTT app gives me exactly the information I want, thanks for the recommendation. Trains to just Kings Cross not Liverpool Street, showing me how far upstream they've come from so I can gauge which are least full.
Screenshot of the RTT train times app, showing a list of trains from Cambridge to London Kings Cross, and where the journey originates e.g. Cambridge, Ely, Kings Lynn.

Taking my blood pressure while "calm" at home before a GP checkup. Looking at emails between readings. Friend is not well. Keyboard batteries need replacing. Legit invoice gone to spam. Sudden fear the vests I bought are a scam, to start they billed £ but took payment in $ which is an extra charge.

Stepped down from a small thing I'd volunteered for as I don't have the right time/energy at the moment. This freed up some time/energy. Now a chunk has fallen off one of my teeth next to a deep filling so I expect a couple of dentist appointments will fill that gap.

The red hot pokers are doing well this year; both on their second set of spears. Last summer I had it dug up, split, and replanted (half in the ground, half in a pot) so I'm glad it's happy.
Back garden. The lawn is patchy and brown, but two red hot poker plants are sending up orange bristle brush spears. Also pictured: a bench, a bay bush, a stone head, and some other plants.

As below, so above. Back at the bridge over the nascent River Cam. I was filming the difference in water: the ripples vs the churn of the water as it tumbles over its brick high ledge. Then the rain returned, and the ripples multiplied - like a physics experiment seen under electron microscope.
