It's more evident in the book than the movie. But that book is significantly sicker than the movie. I've read it and never need to read or watch it again. It's still snuff, even as satire. And yes, I've read A Modest Proposal.

1978, I was in 7th grade. We had a cat and a dog. Blizzard that January. Mom found a half frozen orange cat in our garage & brought him in. We aren't keeping him. After the storm, she took him outside. He followed her to all the feeding stations in the yard. And right back into the house.

My mom, the 9th grade English teacher, had a whole graveyard in her backyard. Of course, it was stray cats who passed and every possum, groundhog, raccoon, and whatever else ended up as roadkill on the state route out in front of her house.

Ok, I have a degree in English. I might privately roll my eyes occasionally, but I would never ridicule. I don't know their background. Heck, English could be their 12th language! I'm lucky for my English and a small smattering of German from 3 years in high school and 2 quarters college.

We lost power for over an hour. Checked my notifications on my cell once it was back on. Yeah, my county had a tornado warning, but no electricity meant no sirens. The kitties and I are ok.
