In college my roommate played MTG & he was from a very religious household. He was only allowed to play as long as he did not play the color black. It was “Satan’s color.” I believe it was a bit of the Satanic panic happening there. Still more lenient than other families I knew at the time.

Multiple times in the book there were sentences that had the names of Magic cards placed throughout. My partner read the story and didn't catch any of them but didn't even know they were there. I caught many and they made me smile. But I do agree, a poorly placed easter egg is distracting.

I love easter eggs when they are done well. When they are an obvious wink and a nudge then I dislike them. The best are ones that DO serve the story. They are a joy when it happens. The best example I can think of is @seananmcguire.bsky.social in Omens of Chaos.

My partner told me this morning that she wants us to get an FDM 3d printer. (My old FDM printers were given away in the move & I only brought my resin printer which will require creative thinking to get up & running safely.) I have been researching printers all day today & just came up for air.

And it slyly references one of the first artist goofs in the game. I can’t remember the card but it was a “lemure” and the artist did a flying lemur and they had to pivot at the last minute with name and creature type. Wish I could remember the card. Damn my old…thing…in my head.

Started to watch the In Memoriam stuff from last night's Emmys and had to nope out quick. Hearing Macaulay get that wavering voice talking about Catherine O'Hara broke straight through what little defense I got. Have to wait until I can get all weepy and not have to go to sleep right after.

I’ve been working with my tech equipment for streaming and video recording and MY GOD it’s so much easier to deal with audio when you have a treated studio. Though coming from voice acting I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to audio quality. Got to work with what I got.

Diablo 5. I am an unabashed Diablo fanboy and can’t wait.

Just about at the 30 day mark of my MTG Arena journey. Going strong. Building up a nice little pile of coins. Averaging about 1000 per day. Almost used 25,000 of them to buy the stain glass Dominaria United lands on the store today. Held firm. I'm enjoying the journey.

I have successfully kept myself from making a poor financial decision in relation to tech gear. It is a thing I want. I don’t NEED it (yet…but I will…eventually…to replace/upgrade my current gear). But I stopped myself from spending the money now when I really should wait. Please clap.

Also would like to point out that the art in Reality Fracture has been pure fire. We got Escher type stuff on one end and then we got amazing stuff like this on the other. I'm LOVING the art.

Reminded me when I was working for a company about 15 yrs ago. Company and people were great. Then there was the COO. Him, not so great. There was a group of us chatting and he happened to be there. I made self deprecating fat joke I thought was funny. He cackled with laughter. The only one.

This is incredibly good advice. I used to make a ton of self deprecating jokes. After therapy and working on myself I realized some things. 1. The only people who thought that it was funny were crap people. 2. The good people around me would get uncomfortable. 3. I was only pushing myself down.

I did this once on Thanksgiving Day. Pulled the spatchcock turkey breast out of the oven with mitts. Move the turkey to the pan with stuffing. Notice how much juice is in pan and would go great over the stuffing. Grabbed pan with hand. Every year since I say “hot pan” on repeat during this step.

IANAL but I would imagine that Apple is taking the stance that it will record but the recordings won’t be admissible in court. And they just assume most people won’t press the issue. Google and Apple have been recording us for years via home devices and phones. So this tracks.
