Ok I stand corrected - the paper signage in cases is up to date (though someone left a layer on they shouldn't have...)

And despite the name having been changed 8 months ago, there's no sign of the "Gold Runner" branding anywhere here at the station - the old San Joaquins signage is everywhere.

We have arrived in Bakersfield and have been blessed with an older set of California Cars and an F59PHI locomotive instead of their replacements - the infamously unreliable and uncomfortable Venture cars and Charger locomotives. Still no cafe car though - it's going to be a long 7 hours to Oakland.
A tired old Amtrak California train with the original 1994 equipment - an EMD F59PHI locomotive and a matching set of double deck coaches.

Don't trust that AI slop - they have far more (perhaps too many?) directors: Cathrin Banks, for example, is in fact a Class III railroad CEO. Andrew Davis runs a MOW company. Joe Davis seems to be a higher-up at the Maryland Transit Administration. It's not all railroaders but they're there.

Some upgrades have arrived for my HO scale 1975 San Francisco Zephyr in the form of 3 new sleepers and a new baggage car, all weathered by the talented @interurbanera.bsky.social. The sleepers have custom painted and lit interiors including window shades and anti-fall bars over the hall windows.

Slightly widened and shortened to remove some blank space - being able to do this obviously depends on the info and exit directions.

Though having this sign have the "exit" bar with empty space plus multiple icons in the grey central section feels odd. I'd stick the exit identifier in the white area to link those two even closer.

Amtrak carting out the original Superliner coach for my little trip today - you can even still read the ghost of "smoking coach" on the side from when the baggage compartment was refitted into a smoker's lounge.

This is my grandfather at work back in the 80s. He was a test pilot at Grumman starting from the LEM and continuing all the way up until the late 90s. You may know him from his work as the Apollo suit test dummy, or helping launch the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island.

Remember these little sandbox excavator things? Those were the best.
A silver metal contraption sitting in a large sandbox. The contraption has a red seat on the rear and two handles in the front. The handles are each attached to a metal bar, both connected to a scoop. Moving the handles relative to each other and to the seat controls the scoop's angle and position, allowing the device to dig in a radius around its mounting point. This one has done quite a bit of digging already, as evidenced by a ring of sand removed from the sandbox for its entire reach.
