😂 thedispatch.com/article/lieb...
When I think, as one often does, about what I would rescue from my house if it were burning down, one of the first things that comes to mind is the two-volume collection of World War II reporting from the Library of America. Now, when I pause to reflect, I realize that this probably wouldn’t really be one of the first items I would rescue, because I could buy another copy, whereas acquiring a new family would be both cumbersome and fraught with legal difficulties.

A screenshot of a tweet by @DarrigoMelanie. it says: “Updated:” and has a screenshot of a Trump tweet from 10/9/12. Trump originally said: “Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin-watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.” The ‘updated’ version says: “Now that my poll numbers are in tailspin-watch for me to launch a strike in Iran. I am desperate.”

@bsky.app @pfrazee.com is there any way to remove a feed from my feeds when it is not currently pinned? First image is the ellipsis menu on the feed. The second is the “unpin” options. Only the second seems to do what I want.

Pepco conspired with the state legislature of MD to remove energy supplier choice, but they're too lazy to remove the boilerplate language about energy choice from my statement.
Supply Charges: These charges reflect the cost of producing electricity for you.
You can compare this part of your bill to offers from competitive suppliers.
Your Price to Compare is 12.49 cents ($0.1249) per kWh. When shopping
for electric suppliers, compare this price to those proposed by other suppliers. This
price reflects the average annual amount a customer on this rate pays per kilowatt-
hour for Electric Supply. For information on electric energy suppliers please visit
MDEnergyChoice.com.

2 thoughts: 1) Wow, this will make development (clone and modify) so much simpler! 2) I wonder how much confusion will result from having table IDs etc no longer being globally unique. (Which I know they already did, but it didn't really come up in practice before.) airtable.com/appL2oaKxSWg...
An Airtable platform update:
"Preserve object IDs when cloning bases"
When cloning a base using “Duplicate base” or “Take snapshot”, the underlying object IDs (table IDs, record IDs, view IDs, and more) will now be preserved, with only the top-level application ID changing. This update makes it much easier to restore bases from snapshots and revert to original functionality without workarounds.

I’ve been reading “Operation Chastise” by Max Hastings and it’s clear that disregard for the lives of aviators was not a Japanese exclusive during WW2.
…even Western commanders, who professed to recoil from Japan’s kamikaze suicide warriors, not infrequently ordered their own young men to undertake missions that would almost assuredly result in their extinction.
