my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 22: elvish visonary now a 2 mana 1/1 that draws a card on etb with a heavily supported creature type that will get decent value just from playing it where have i seen this before...

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 10/07/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 21: bloodline culling twennyone! anyways, a 3 mana boardwipe is always nice, however niche if anything, the niche ones are better, since they allow for asymmetry just that with this one you can't really control it as well?

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 20: toxic scorpion ah yes the toxic scorpion doesn't have toxic and instead has deathtouch jokes aside, i love this little fella been running its powercrept version (blooming stinger) in standard for a while in a fynn deck

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 08/07/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 19: embodiment of spring this one is interesting... it's technically a similar application to studious first-year, but it's guaranteed to take 2 turns and you lose the body in the process, BUT in the meantime you get an 0/3

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 18: waning wurm this is a 4 mana vanilla 7/6 for one turn... one more turn as a blocker i suppose but BUT consider the following Abigale it's the right colors too loving the flavor btw, the alliteration, the poetry 😘👌

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 17: quiet speculation ok obviously the intended way to use this is to tutor/entomb your three best flashback cards but what i'm immediately thinking of is pairing it with valgavolth, something that steals the searched cards

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 16: rakdos cackler i'd say this is your quintessential decent onedrop potential 2/2 with a small but modular effect so that it can have different applications throughout a game a bit underpowered by todays standards maybe

100

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 03/07/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 15: leaping master having looked at a pretty decent jeskai monk yesterday, gaddamn this one's ass 2 for a 2/1 vanilla? terrible 5 total for a 2/1 flying for one turn??? 💀💀💀 bro just play any flyer, you're probably in blue

100

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 02/07/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 14: flamehold grappler i remember playing this in prerelease but i honestly wish i'd see it more often 3 for a 3/3 first strike is already decent but to then copy WHATEVER comes next, including permanents?

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 13: triskaidekaphile it may seem gimmicky, but 2 for a 1/3 that removes handsize and can repeatedly draw you cards (even if for a pretty high cost) is already nice the nice thing is, the trigger goes on the stack regardless

110

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 29/06/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 12: void squall this seems kinda overpriced, just compare it to something like unsummon or into the floodmaw costing 20% the mana yes, it can target ANY nonland permanent, no matter the type and including yours (1/2)

100

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 28/06/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 11: overcharged amalgam 4 mana + sacing a creature may seem a bit much for a counterspell, BUT as of now, there are only 8 other cards that counter any spell or ability, no questions asked, only 2 of which are cheaper than 4

110

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 27/06/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 10: feedback 3 WHOLE MANA for ONE damage per turncycle are you CRAZY? and it's not even guaranteed to stay?? granted, enchantments are among the tougher permanents to remove, but this wouldn't even be good as an emblem

110

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 26/06/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 9: regeneration as a slight correction to yesterdays post i actually went back to check HOW overpriced the effect was, and turns out: 4 mana total for "regenerate enchanted creature" is not a terrible rate

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 8: nurturing licid just as with the equipment creatures, think the licids are really interesting design space, as they are basically the aura equivalent in a way that bestow just doesn't quite manage to achieve imo

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 7: dragon sniper vigilance + reach is good vigilance + dt is good dt + reach is good this fucker has ALL THREE for ONE WHOLE MANA this is probably the most efficient keyword soup you're ever gonna find outside of rograkh

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 6: inspirited vanguard i remember seeing this a few times in limited, but this is kinda just a 5/4 vanilla for 5 which is a terrible rate the option to split it up across two bodies only makes it marginally more interesting

110

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 22/06/2026

my opinion on random mtg cards until i consider myself an mtg creator, day 5: indigo faerie i was gonna make a different joke here but looking at the flavor text, there is one that is so substantially better, if the card didn't predate the meme by 10 years, i'd be fully convinced it was a reference

100

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 21/06/2026

my opinions on random mtg cards until i can consider myself an mtg creator, day 4: inevitable betrayal oh hey i actually play this one bribery is a VERY unique card, so having basically an extra copy is a blessing for the decks that want this specific effect, even if it is one turn slower on curve

Chel @bsky.chelor.eu · 20/06/2026

my opinions on random mtg cards until i can consider myself an mtg creator, day 3: parallax dementia ngl i've never seen this card before but it sounds kinda sick in an auras deck love myself a versatile aura and 2 mana for either +3/+2 on an expendable creature or VERY slow removal isn't terrible
