George Osborne calls for UK to rejoin EU customs union and boost trade
Ex-Tory chancellor says economy has ‘fallen off a cliff’ since Brexit but rejoining union could be ‘quite simple’ Former chancellor George Osborne said Britain’s economy has “fallen off a cliff” since Brexit and that rejoining the European Union’s customs union would be the fastest route to recovery. Osborne, who resigned as chancellor after being part of David Cameron’s cabinet at the time of the referendum, said it was important to rebuild links with the EU. Continue reading...

This is serious. If Reform blatantly, intentionally and knowingly broke election law, they should be held fully accountable. Liberal Democrats have asked the Police and the Electoral Commission to investigate.

The culture war has become a permanent stalemate between highly motivated minorities, while the vast majority of people simply want to get on with their lives. We need to stop forcing everyone into opposing camps and find a way back to fair play, compromise and ordinary political disagreement.

Gianni Infantino has dragged football's reputation through the mud. Now he's selling off FIFA's rotting husk to the highest bidder. It's time to give Infantino the red card and build a new global footballing body built on accountability and transparency that puts fans first.
A referee’s hand holds up a red card reading “GIVE INFANTINO A RED CARD!” in bold white text, against a blurred football stadium background. A white Liberal Democrats logo appears in the bottom-right corner.

Yesterday, five people were detained for allegedly selling publications labelled “seditious”. When working in a bookshop becomes an act of courage, freedom is already under attack. A regime that arrests booksellers is afraid of ideas—and a society that cannot read freely cannot remain truly free 2/2

Congratulations to Andy. Now let’s see a Land Value Tax that taxes wealth, not income, real devolution for local communities, and proportional representation so every vote counts. It’s time to fix Britain’s constitutional settlement and renew our democracy.

Britain's broken political system needs fixing. Proportional representation, real devolution, an elected second chamber and a written constitution would help deliver it. If Andy Burnham is serious about changing politics, our door is open.
