All of these guys have everything and somehow always need more. If I had a fraction of what these guys make, I wouldn’t be CEO of anything, I’d buy a place in semi rural nowhere and maybe have a model railroad. But no, the entire world has to go down in flames.

I think that's human fondness for duality. I can't just LIKE Iain McCaig, he has to be THE MOST ULTIMATE AWESOMENESS. I can't just be horrified by how shitty Neil Gaiman acted, I have to sell every book vaguely related to the dude. That sorta deal.

But this person made/does something which I enjoy, so maybe they're enough like me that I can feel invested in their life and success? Especially if they're a YouTuber or w/e?

so much shit was scary as a kid. I remember seeing Brian Bolland's "The Killing Joke" cover long before I ever read the comic, and Walt Simonson's adaptation of Alien long before I ever saw the movie, and both of *those* scared the fuck out of kid me.

problem is, I have real issues with memory loss so I can't actually pin it down. Probably Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So many terrible things happen to the kids, and of course they're all bad so that makes it okay. You can see how that might hit personal nerves.
