Folklore concept art with my Vtuber chibi sat on one of the chairs, sipping their drink.

So the Final Fantasy XI free trial just got updated, and oh my god I'm not even in the game yet, and it's so quaint in it's oldschool values

Playing through Well Dweller at the mo, and 4 hours in, it's just so smooth. It gives me the same feeling of exploring a metroidvania map that Hollow Knight does, but with a far lighter tone (while still having its scares). @kylethompsondev.bsky.social has done it again methinks ❤️

Some of these games are probably obvious to you, but these games in some way fundamentally changed my brain chemistry in irreparable ways.

My 9 Games (The 9 Games That Shaped Who I Am)
Lost Kingdoms 2, Digimon World, DotHack//Infection, The World Ends With You, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Alundra, Luminous Arc, Suikoden.

Konami's Rhapsody in Scarlet reminded me of Folklore so much, and it had the possiblity of yuribait. Is this finally Lost Kingdoms 3?

Main character on a spooky lantern-lit path. Very Folklore coded.

Main character uses a summoned wolf and a magic staff to attack shadow monsters.

After so many years, I've started replaying 'Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King' and its cozy charm and frighteningly addictive gameplay loop has its hooks in me. And with RetroAchievements on it as well? This is me now

I finished and platinumed Darwin's Paradox on PS5! What a charming little platformer with a little bit of puzzling and a chunk of stealth mechanics. Nice and short, which made the platinum very achievable. Big recommend, it has a lot of heart.

Promo image of Darwin's Paradox. A blue octopus is being chased by aliens, robots, rats, and seagulls as a factory explodes in the background.

I beat Pragmata (and Unknown Signal). Damn, what a game. Capcom is really back after this and RE9. A truly touching story, with engaging gameplay, all wrapped in a reasonably quick package - I'm bad, and got through it in 20ish hours on Normal. Anyone on the fence? Give it a go. It's a good time.

Pragmata screenshot. Diana, the blonde little girl, is high-fiving the spacesuit wearing man Hugh.

Had been missing doing more traditional art, rather than my usual ClipStudioPaint line tool go brr. After a few warmups, popped out a nice Lost Kingdoms 2 sketch that I thought was worthy enough to share with the world. Tara looks so forlorn here. I wanna give her a hug.

So many games that I think have immaculate vibes have just one thing just repels me from them. Games that I'd love to just sit, chill, and go "Waow" in, if not for the gameplay, story, or something else I can't quite place. It's often a "me problem", but damn...

Digimon World 3 - It's got Digimon, a fun MMO-style world, but the grind and the backtracking hurt.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Gorgeous sprawling worlds, but the gacha-like vibes and the character writing hurt me in a way I can't describe.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. That solemn sunset-like atmosphere the whole game has, doesn't make up for bad gameplay.

CrossCode. 10/10 vibes, everything tells me I should love this game. But I'm not sure if it's something small in the writing, or me wanting some more sign-posting, but something keeps making me bounce off.
