This is the Invader UFO-7, from Henshin Cyborg. It was released in 1975. Microman had been in stores for two years. Takara would have been happy to keep making 12 inch figures and vehicles, they stopped because the line just wasn’t selling anymore, not because the format was too difficult.

That is such a cool robo. Ive only recently dug into Diaclone(and by extension rekindled my love for Transformers) and ive absolutely fallen for the designs of Robot Fortress X and Robot Base, alongside a few others.
