Basically I feel like all the Broats shorts are waaaaaaay too quiet compared to every other professional and indie show on YouTube, but if I use the tools and methods I know to make it louder the YouTube’s compression makes it sound abysmal

The latest Broats short I did sounds fantastic on my computer. Sounds great on Patreon. When I upload it to YouTube it sounds like absolute garbage. I’ve been watching YouTube videos all last night and today to try to figure out wtf to do to make audio sound better but also be loud enough

Broats @broats.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

The last piece of the puzzle I really need for Broats is the audio side I can make music, I can arrange all the dialog and SFX and music, but I really am lacking the magic secret thing that happens in between that and having a truly professional mixed & mastered sound

One of the most frustrating parts of making YouTube videos trying to scientifically crafting the most click-getting thumbnail possible (within your personal ethical limitations) I just wanna make cartoons and have people just wanna watch those cartoons because they’re good

Here are some sneak peek screenshots from the next Broats short, “Boba Brotest”!

Sometimes inspiration just strikes Mostly that, but also I’m realizing I may want to wait until early next year to launch the kickstarter to avoid the holiday season

Broats @broats.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Should we do a spooky short for Halloween?

230

Broats @broats.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

I’ve had my head down putting together the whole Kickstarter campaign for weeks, but now I’m coming up for air. Gotta come up with a few fun things to post during this weird limbo period where I’m trying to transition to focus on the Kickstarter and longer episodes. First thing coming up is this:

On second thought, designing one more reward. The next step is to shoot a Kickstarter launch video…

I think I’m done designing all the rewards for the upcoming Kickstarter!

This is the next step for Broats: fundraising for a two part pilot special! Stay tuned for more specifics, but please help spread the word so when we launch the campaign we can meet our goal and make the first full-length Broats episodes!

Who’s ready to help crowdfund the first full length Broats episodes? I’m taking a break from shorts to focus on that.

Mainly Adobe sucks and is becoming more actively evil, but also just seem like other programs might be a little less janky - hard to specify exactly what I mean by that 😅

Broats @broats.bsky.social · 06/07/2026

Very seriously considering ditching Adobe animate for Broats… Blender grease pencil and Moho are my top considerations, I just don’t know how quickly I can get the hang of them

Been doing this for a few years and waiting for *anyone* to actually maybe make a video covering Broats to help spread the word to the indie animation scene I promise it’s not illegal to make a video about Broats Meanwhile when people do somehow find Broats they say this:

I still feel like I am pulling teeth just to get a few hundred views on most of my videos, but the people who *do* find them say stuff like this:

The perfect company is one that produces nothing, receives money, and only has one employee (the CEO). Any time you question why a company would do something seemingly insane, just remember that they are trying to create the impossible, a perfect company, and that should help explain it.
