This is a Southern Moon Moth (Dasypodia selenophora)! I have called them Bogongs all my life, but this W.A. inhabitant is not a bogong. 🙀 I am very glad to hear the undifferentiated Eastern States populations have made a recovery of the actual Bogong (Agrotis infusa).

The simple promises made for year before final/ongoing promises of the Society of the Sacred Mission (Au), text follows:

Formula for Admission:
A Member of the Society will endeavour, with the help of God, to Love the Lord their God with all their heart and love their neighbours as themselves.

A Member of the Society will endeavour to, with the help of God, commit themselves to a life of prayer, and study, reflecting constantly upon the life and work of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Gospels.

With their heart and mind, soul and strength, a member of the Society makes use of their God given gifts and talents with imagination and courage to faithfully do the works God has prepared for them to do in the world.

Let members live a life of humble reflection and Charitable Christian service, commending with their lives the aims and objectives of the Society of the Sacred Mission, and to the alleviation of poverty and distress in the Australian community. Members of the Society are to discern together, recognising our reliance on the help of the Holy Spirit, what works of service and prayer God is calling the Society to attend to.

I have played NetHack for many years. The wand item comes with charges, once empty you can still attempt to zap it, occasionally getting the message: "You wrest one more spell from the worn out wand". This feels like the vocations journey at times.

From repost below. Yes wtf? But also, there is no way 47 wrote this. Someone is copying his style (gratuitous capitalisation and caps, plus ending) but the post is too coherent and uses 3+ syllable words which are not in 47's functional vocabulary. Eg. 'violate', 'tremendous'.

Anyone who is a sniff of MAGA in Oz needs to closely look at this table (Matt Grudnoff, Australia Institute, Apr 2025). Then look at the cost of health insurance approx 4x that of Oz and comes with limits and exclusions. People die. People lose their houses. People go bankrupt.

Midnight Mass at Church of the Resurrection (rebuilt after burning down), Swanbourne (Anglocatholic inclusive). Beautiful with 8 person choir. Con students? Solidly offered Darke in F, O Magnum Mysterium. Church full. Many younger ppl tho' regular congo is older.

A mouse moved in with me in winter. I had been feeding it in a containment strategy. But it started getting adventurous. Mabel has found it. It was beautiful and I was soon to make the difficult decision to live trap and release it over the fence where the tiger snakes stir.

I notice California is celebrating Trans (and gender diverse) History Month, but haven't seen any men celebrated. So here is a photo of Albert Cashier (1843-1915), Union soldier, who presented and lived as male all his life but has sadly been misgendered and dead-named in death.

Uncommon visitors from late June. Aussie Shelduck. Most commonly seen are the Black ducks with the occasional Musk in the lake and Wood ducks.
